it's been a while since i've recorded some of my songs alone. actually it's been 6 years now since i've recorded my debut 'the wagon fair', which was inspired by a documentary called 'the devil's playground' by lucy walker. this album was a compilation of themes of that documentary as well as it was about some incidents that happened to me in in that periode of my life.
2008 got me working on new music again. recently for a film called 'ooit' by jaap van heusden. in september 2008 the film has been shown on the dutch national film festival and got a 'golden calf' nomination. late 2008 and early 2009 the film has been aired on television (nps/vpro/vara) in the netherlands as well as in the rest of western europe ('arte'). late april 2009 these songs, plus a couple of extra tracks have been put together on an album plus dvd (with the actual film) and was released by volkoren in the benelux and symbolic interaction in japan. you can order your copy by mailing erik@atthecloseofeveryday.com.
i guess 'ooit' inspired my work on my solo career a bit more as i recorded a new album last summer with some friends in a small american church. these 12 i recorded songs are something completely different, a much more bigger and layered sound but still very ME-like. i plan on releasing this album called 'HAMDEN' approx. april 2010 and i willl actually combine it with a small tour through the benelux with some friends from different bands. more info about this soon.
the last couple of months i've been busy on the soundtrack for 'WIN/WIN', the new film of Jaap and Heusden including lots of new work from me and songs of Wovenhand. musically it's darker and a bit more ambient, perhaps even a bit like my new solo album 'HAMDEN'. check out the trailer i've put on this site, you might like it.
i hope this finds you well.
ME
Hey Minco, Heb vanavond weer eens even naar 'The Wagon Fair' geluisterd. Het blijft een briljante plaat!! Hoop dat alles goed gaat. Groetjes, Rene Kaaij
Hey Minco,
thanks for the add!
I bought your album when I was in Amsterdam and listened to it on the train on the way back home. It was the perfect soundtrack for staring out of the window of the train and thinking about the things to come... I love it!
Take care,
Miri
