This dynamic vocalist grew up in Portland , OR. Her mother , who is also a singer, had a song for everything! Mindi's earliest musical memories include watching every Broadway musical ever recorded, and singing Christmas carols with the family around her Grandmother's piano. Mindi began singing at a very early age, and by the time she was 11 years old, she was performing in musical stage productions of her own. At the age of 13, she began performing a capella 4-part harmony with a local, Internationally-competitive Sweet Adelines show chorus and choreographing for them as well, which she still does today as a hobby. Mindi's mother and 14 year old daughter both perform in the chorus as well now, and her chorus is currently ranked 9th place in th world! Around the same time, Mindi began her professional vocal training, and competing in regional, national, and International singing competitions, consistently placing in the top 5 in each contest, and boasting several wins as well. Mindi's solo repertoire includes several different genres of music, from great jazz & swing standards, blues, and Broadway favorites from The Great American Songbook, adult contemporary originals, Pop/soft rock music, to tender, emotion-filled love songs, Holiday standards,and some Gospel and inspirational tunes. Her artistic vocal style has been described by her fans as "reminiscent of great artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Etta James, Karen Carpenter, Maureen McGovern, and Rosemary Clooney."
Mindi has performed in jazz lounges, on stage in musical theatre productions, wine-tasting events, at corporate parties, private homes, weddings, fairs and festivals, concerts, fine restaurants, show openings, competitions,and recordings, entertaining at events in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Indiana, Tennessee, Arizona, Alaska, Texas, Hawaii, and Canada.
In May 2007 ,Mindi Brizendine independently produced and released her first CD, “AT LAST”, followed closely by her second album, “Forever Yours” with pianist/songwriter, Richard Kutch in March 2008, and her latest album of all original music, "Believe" in December 2008.
Mindi astounds her audiences with her intriguing collection of music. From jazz, swing, and blues standards and originals, to tender, emotion-filled ballads, Broadway showstoppers, and popular music.
