Skeletons + Simon Finn + The Resurrection Men Saturday 14th March
As a co-founding member of Shinkoyo records, Matt Mehlan retains the label’s core ideals of collaboration, experimentation, and unpredictability with his Skeletons project. Beginning in Oberlin, Ohio as a solo act with help from an eclectic cast of collaborators (classically-trained trombonists, punk rock drummers, a junkyard boy’s choir), Skeletons has now settled comfortably into its adult body, having established the full-time band The Girl-Faced Boys (Seve, Johnny, Jason, and Carson) and forming an alliance with Ghostly. In addition to appearances at the 2004 CMJ and 2005 SxSW festivals, the group has lent live support to TV On The Radio, The Unicorns, VHS Or Beta, Animal Collective, Holger Czukay (of Can), Jackie O’ Motherfucker, and Twig Harper. A major US tour is planned for summer following the release of the LP Git.

UNWED SAILOR is helmed by Oklahoma-born songwriter Johnathon Ford. The basis for the instrumental project came into being while Ford was still writing with Seattle luminaries Roadside Monument. Pulling towards a bass guitar-oriented sound, the songs he had begun to craft did not fully feel right for Roadside Monument, thus the unbeknownst predestined forming of Unwed Sailor. Not aiming for Unwed Sailor to fall into the regular confines of a typical band, Ford's ever evolving cast and crew has been tirelessly composed over the years of good friends and company. Throughout the past decade, Unwed Sailor has shared the stage with the likes of Pedro the Lion, Mary Timony, Low, The Danielson Famile, Sufjan Stevens, Early Day Miners, Minus the Bear, The Advantage, The Starlight Mints, Battles, Mates of State, and Beach House(just to name a few…). The band has since been relocated and based out of cities across the United States, including Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., Jackson MS, Little Rock, AR, and most recently Lawrence, KS. With numerous tours in the U.S. and Europe, the band has traveled almost as much as it has evolved.
Well done to Chez and Mac for Saturday - I had a great time and Chez finished the Acoustic set on a real high ! Lets get some more shows and make somewhere safe for people with Mental Health problems to go along and forget things for a couple of hours. Well done to both of you and thanks for asking me to be part of it.
Ghosttown Promotions & Tin Angel Records Presents...
This Thursday 18th September BLACK CARROT: Exclusive Album Launch Support from DEAD COWBOY CULTURE @ The Tin Angel Record Shop, Spon Street CV1 3AX Doors 8pm ~ late
Black Carrot (Market Harborough) are a vibrant quintet who perform new-wave krautrock jazz madness that oozes rock with a psychotic edge. Fierce and abstract yet serving the concept of the song, their unique sound nods towards Beefheart and Pere Ubu but is shot through with flavours of New York jazz skronk, and the loosest, funkiest Krautrock.
"Black Carrot are truly inspired musicians" - Jean Hervé Peron/Faust Black Carrot release their second studio album "Drink The Black Forest" on Tin Angel Records on 3rd November 2008. To support the release initially they will be playing UK tour support for Baby Dee throughout late November early December in addition to their own headline shows in the Midlands and London.
Hauschka breaks conventional rules to expose an artful manner of writing contemporary music that is ambient and electronic. You'll witness the “Clamping wedges of leather, felt or rubber between the strings; preparing the hammers with aluminium paper or rough films; placing crown corks on the strings, weaving guitar strings around the piano’s guts, or pasting them down with gaffa tape - his resulting tracks are composed both originally and charmingly.” (Last FM)Hauschka breaks conventional rules to expose an artful manner of writing contemporary music that is ambient and electronic. Alexander Thomas is Bristol's finest Theremin musician."Alexander Thomas was all digital clash and curiously spooked tones, His Rasputin like hands echoing Greek orthodox iconography as he sent signals across the Theremin, shimmer fish softening the hard edges, working across the judder."
