**************************
The journey of interesting and peculiar music began in the fall of 2004. Two friends in a dismantled band were in search of a bass player. The goal was to form a band with limited musical rules and engage in a project that would stand the test of time. That project would be named Mindset X. Mindset would work the brain and the "X" would delve into the unknown. The intellectual unknown.
In walks Jerry Houle. A drummer by trade and a walking encyclopedia of musical history. He was loud. He was eccentric. He was perfect. Mindset X was now complete.
For the next 4 and a half years Mindset x released and toured regionally on 3 full length albums and 3 EP's.
MSX signed to Rat Pak Records, an indie label from NH, in 2005. During their time with Rat Pak MSX released 3 full length albums and two EP’s.
1. Atmosphere EP with Video (2005)
2. Physics (full length) (2006)
3. Generation Rx (full length) (2007)
4. Bipolar EP (2007)
5. Thread (Full length) (2008 – Nominated for a Grammy Vote)
6. This EP is untitled (2009)
These albums spawned some of the MSX live show classics such as "Atmosphere", "Box", "Syntax", and "Ghosts in Boston".
Fast forward to 2009. A new musical direction with the same musical elements you've come, and known to love, from Mindset X. “This EP is Untitled” was released in April, 2009. It contained 3 new songs and marked a musical turning point for the band. Gone were the 7 minute Opus’s and drawn out musical intros. MSX strived to pack as much punch as they could in the amount of time it took to get the message across. “Sunset Boulevard” instantly became a fan favorite with its catchy chorus and pounding middle section. “Sheeple” has Jerry singing lead vocals about the angst of being content with only following the path others have chose for you while “Anti-Depressia” mocks the new drug crazed America.
Mindset X is known as being one of the hardest working bands in New England. They consistently tour the region and have opened for acts such as Korn, Days of the New, Skid Row, Overkill and Joey Belladonna (ex Anthrax singer). Mindset X is currently touring the region in support of their new EP while gearing up to head into the studio once again, with acclaimed producer Brian Sachs, sometime this summer to record their follow up album to “Thread”.
In the meantime, help spread the word. Join the street team. Come to a show. Be part of something just a little bit different. It’s not the destination that matters most.
It’s the journey.

"Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them - work, family, health, friends, and spirit - and you're keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls - family, health, friends, and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered...You must understand that and strive for balance in your life."~Brian Dyson
