Influences
mind's hideaway has been described as a band that "trenscends stylistic conventions" with a melodic jammy rock sound the likes of Sublime, Jimmy Hendrix and Incubus. With hard angry Rage-like songs to chillin' jams that put you on the beach, mind's hideaway is about having a good time. Other artists who have influenced our music: 311, Nirvana, Phish, Weezer, Hendrix, Local H, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Umphrey's McGee, Slightly Stoopid, Chevelle, Tool, etc.
Sounds Like
A crunchy blend of Sublime, Nirvana, 311, and Phish with plenty of Midwestern senisibility, Alaskan grooves and suburban angst for good measure.
Four parts Chicago suburbs and one part Alaska combine to make mind's hideaway. This is where good time jam band music meets unapologetic, in your face alternative rock. mind's hideaway rides the connection between the original, important rock of the '60s and the next generation of rebels from the '90s onwards. They are interested in similarities between bands like The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The Allman Brothers and their modern day contemporaries such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Phish. mind's hideaway also believes very strongly in making human rights the central platform for all public policy. They organized "The Jamout to Help Ray Graham Out" in June of '07 in Elmhurst, IL and helped raise over $2000 for the Ray Graham Association, a non-profit that supports adults with special needs. mind's hideaway has opened for such national acts as Local H, The Wailers, and Mr. Blotto, and has played countless venues including Logan Square Auditorium, Elbo Room, Kinetic Playground, and the 2008 Taste of Chicago. The band looks forward to rocking a whole mess of shows this summer.
FGC’s only Chicago appearance of the summer is coming up on Friday July 17th at the Abbey Pub. This will be an Ages 18+ show with special supporting acts: Lobster Newberg and The Rubblebucket Orchestra. This Hometown Throwdown is a show not to be missed…hope to see you there!!

maybe I'm late on noticing this but When did you get a keyboard player? I didn't think you were missing anything to begin with, but now it's like Whoa you were so missing keyboards back then. Great addition try and follow me here but i think your music TASTES even better now. kinda like when you add a little sugar to your rice crispies. thats your new sound in food terms. sweet!
