The Helsinki-based metal hammer MIND-A-STRAY has started recording for their very first full-length album that so far goes under the working title UltiMaterial. The whole recording and mixing processes will be done in a top-class metal studio named D-Studio, in Klaukkala in southern Finland near Helsinki. The mastering will probably be done in the famous and state-of-the-art studio Finnvox in Helsinki, Finland, later next year.
The band's current line-up is: Tommy Dee (vocals, rhythm guitar), Sonic (drums) and Dorian Frenja (solo guitar). The final production will feature artists from bands like Adamantra and Sorrowind.
The band has earlier existed under the names Holochaust and Darcane, with varied line-ups. However the founder of Holochaust, the main song-writer and the singer/guitarist/lyricist Tommy Dee has always been the carrying force for the band during the past years and he still is in the charge as a main motor and producer of the band.
The new LP has actually been planned to be a CD + DVD which would contain the nine songs mentioned below, the music video of the song Valley of Misery, an acted documentary shot in summer 2007 in Tampere, as well as another documentary video from the early days of the band's career (then under the name Holochaust, years 2000-2002) and also some quite current live material and a thorough information about the band itself.
The band has decided to record this as an author's edition since the 5 demos that they have made haven't come up with anything satisfying for the future. However the following of the band all around the world has been so overwhelming since 1997 that they decided not to record anymore demos but to do this on their own and then try to find a publisher, or distributor, for the new album - or the CD + DVD package to say it better.
