Mindwall at the beginning was just a project in the head of two young members of a band called Templarium, this band never got to make a real live gig, and became only a friends band to make some covers of their favorite bands. In general, the covers were of bands like Angra, Dream Theater and so on. Carlos Henrique and Endrigo had the idea of forming a band to play their own music, which would envolve the several influences of both musicians, such as progressive sound, technique, with a strong punch, and even a slice of thrash metal. Both guys had some compositions and conceptions for the music, then the first seed of Mindwall was planted.
With the end of the band Templarium, Endrigo and Carlos felt the necessity of rehearsing and decided to contact a common friend to join them and maybe form a serious band. The first idea was to play covers of classic rock, like Queen, Van Halen and Deep Purple. This friend..s name was Claudio.
Then the boys started rehearsing, still without any bass player. Two names for the band were considered, the first, being a Claudios sugestion, was Devils Soft Drink, and the second one, given by the drummers brother, was Jack O Bones.
The chosen name was Devils Soft Drink, however no gig was made under this name. During this process, the boys felt the need of playing a heavier sound, so they started playing Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura and Dream Theater songs. Then they called the bass player Pedro Galdino to assume the four strings.
They started rehearsing with this line-up, a mix of rock and metal, playing new versions of dinosaur bands like Deep Purple, in a very heavy way.
Pedro Galdino left the band after the first presentation, being replaced by Sergio Ribeiro, who has played with the band Templarium before.
After a messy presentation, Carlos also left the band because of personal reasons.
Passed some months without any news, they found the drummer Daniel Alba, who brought new influences and a fresh style of playing
The line-up now is: Claudio Paes (vocals and guitar), Endrigo Libanori (guitar), Sergio Ribeiro (bass guitar) and Daniel Alba (drums).
This line-up is sustained till today, and after new gigs in local clubs and some cities around the started the composition process of the first songs, in which some material from the first idea of Mindwall is used.
Mindwall looks for composing an original music, considering their influences in both traditional heavy metal bands, such as Megadeth, Metallica, Pantera and even Dio (we love Dio), and modern metal, like Lamb Of God. Their first song was recorded in a local amateur studio, at may 16th of 2008, it is called Wall Made of Sorrow, and the second one is almost done. The boys are rehearsing their brand new songs to, maybe till the end of the year, put out an independent album (or maybe sign in with a great label).
