Mindy Boyd is a songwriter, and has been writing her own music since the age of 6. As a little girl on a swing in her front yard, she would sing her thoughts and feelings about life, family, nature, and God. Now as an adult, she continues to express her thoughts and feelings about these things in a style that both captivates the listener and conveys the emotions of her heart. Her years of experience, both in leading worship and performing on-stage, have given her the ability to communicate in a way that is natural and easy to relate to. When listening to Mindy sing, you quickly realize that you have been invited into the most candid entries of her journal.
After graduating from college, she returned to her home in Lancaster, PA where she began singing with Tina (Redcay) Lapp. What began as a simple request for the duo to sing at a local Christmas party quickly escaladed to invitations to play many different coffeehouses, restaurants, churches, conferences, and festivals in the area. They also opened for several local bands, including Rob Trigalet, Changeless, Steve Bridgeman and Reveal. The musical journey of Tina and Mindy also included the release of two independent records: This Road (2000) and Where I Am (2003); as well as Closer to Home, a compilation project with other local artists such as Reveal, Marty Shaughnessy, and Steve Bridgeman. The Closer to Home project gave them the opportunity to do radio interviews and receive airplay on WJTL, and eventually took them to the fringe stage at the Purple Door Arts Festival in 2002.
In 2004, when Tina decided to start a family, Mindy began a solo career. Since then, the invitations she has received have given her opportunities to share her music regionally, as well as internationally in countries such as Germany, Hungary, Bolivia, and Hong Kong. Her newest album, Coming Home, is due to be released in late August
