Experimental folksy showtunes with a touch of jazz and sometimes not like that at all...and/or SweetnSalty Art Folk...
Having grown up... in Salt Lake City, Utah (as a non-mormon, btw) Mindy, or more accurately Melinda Pride Dillard (who for your reference has always been in a bit a of a quandary over which name she should be using...) is now living and biking (essential to happiness) in Portland-town, wandering all over the artistic spectrum...
She is a self-proclaimed dabbler... She teaches yoga and theatre in town for a little bit of cash, but wants more. Sometimes to be a classical Shakespearean actress in some far-flung place and other times a pastry chef trained in Paris. She likes making chocolate truffles, among sweetnsalty delectables, and has what some may consider an unnatural craving all the time for salted caramel macaroons from the pix patisserie... she considers it perfectly natural, reasonable and normal to need one of these macaroons at any time of the day or night.
Maybe she should actually be... a travel writer tasting Spanish tapas while simultaneously learning flamenco dance and painting naked male bodies while herself wearing...nothing ...hmmm.
Maybe she should have written... this bio in first person, not third. Ah well, its already out there.
Not being able to decide... which is her true passion suits her she supposes...it certainly feeds her somewhat strange songs about the troubling and beautiful aspects of human relationships and being alive in general....
Her love affair... with the guitar and songwriting began in earnest about a year ago and only intensified when she discovered the partial capo...
And despite all that wander babble...she would often, these days, rather be writing songs, forming musical collaborations and singing and playing the guitar than doing anything else.
Hey! Yeah, I haven't been back there since. I must admit I've been hiding a bit. But I will be making a comeback no later than fall. Maybe we'll meet again? Of course we will.
