MINERAL SANDS are a band of musicians from the city of Melbourne,Victoria.Majestic,cinematic in scope they traverse different terrains, punching out agile short rock songs..... then in the blink of the eye, they head into hyperdrive territory,blissfully unaware of time constraints,taking their instrumental songs and atmospheres into different timezones.Minimalist,experimentalist,sleek,slick and angular one moment.Straightahead overdrive operatic, then its Bing Crosby singing to the stars.BIENVENUE voici les minstrels de Melbourne, Victorie MINERAL SANDS
Formed at the tailend of the winter 2002, MINERAL SANDS performed a live musical score to the film "98,3000 :Before Federation" at that years Melbourne Fringe Festival.They have taken their music up the eastern seaboard to the hot city of Brisbane.
MINERAL SANDS will soon release material, however some lucky people have copies of some of the bands music that has been distributed on the street,gratis.These CD's have been given to friends and supporters of the band who get what they are doing.It is great to see their eyes light up when the band gives them the gift of music.Current "unofficial" offering , the "Green Fields" album.Nous aimons les amis de MINERAL SANDS

This online EP release (5 Tracks & Artwork) is not just an appetizer for the album which follows on June 26 - among the album versions of "Storm" (feat. Evan Dando) and "Feel the Love" it contains a remix of "Storm", made by labelmates Monocular, the track "Cavallo Pazzo (Song For Mondo Fumatore To Sing)" feat. Werner Kureinski, former member of Aheads and "Do It Right", a nice version of the Daniel Johnston song performed by Tortuga Bar and Navel.
Undecisive God 'A Vinyl Construction' 7" - Recent experiments with multiple turntables and prepared/broken records come to full fruition here with a release that poses questions both to the use of turntables as instruments and vinyl as a format. The music - crunchy multi-layered improvisations/processes that randomly sample small broken chunks from the original vinyl materials - is itself presented on 7" vinyl, in handmade covers reconstructed from old record covers and broken vinyl shards; each cover is different, individually numbered and an interesting one-off creation in itself.
