REVIEW: NYTHEATRE.COM - " The sound design by Drew Bellware richly evokes the Shepard-esque mood, mostly due to the inclusion of original songs contributed by Giovanna-Sgarlata and Minetta Creek, Greenwich Viallage's longest-running bluegrass group " from the Manhattan Theatre Source production of Sam Shepard's play A Lie of the Mind. **************************************
Minetta Creek Bluegrass, formed by Gene Tambor in 1992, was created to give a fresh voice to live acoustic music in NYC. Gene, a multi-instrumentalist and a master of song/musicologist, has been a steady figure in the NYC folk music scene since the 1960's. Today, Minetta Creek Bluegrass is: Gene Tambor (vocals, banjo, mandolin), Beth Tambor (vocals, guitar & flute) Gio Sgarlata (bass), Joe Choina (bass), Bruce Kirshner (fiddle), and Jeffrey Young (fiddle). Past lineups of Minetta Creek Bluegrass Band have also featured artists like Bob Jones, Joyus Perrin, Sheriff Bob. **************************************************
You will hear clever originals, classic bluegrass & country as well as unique bluegrass versions of classic rock numbers by artists such as The Grateful Dead and The Rolling Stones. MCB is available for private parties and public events. Call 212-473-5140 or 646-287-8878 or email minettacreek@nyc.rr.com. Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4

Reckon' ya'll's travels out West were a success, looks like you made it back home safe and sound. Was a treat to get to hear you live, and sure enjoyed the jawin' after the show ... My thumb has healed, so next time we'll actually get to pick some together. Still envious about that banjo lesson ya got from Don Reno. Gotta run the stills about to blow again ...dang cheap pressure valves!!
Thanks for considerin' us musical compadres! Hope to see ya down the road!
Me and my friend, Sam, decided to visit awhile tonight. He doesn’t know much about wagon wheels ... so I thought this was the best place to educate him ;) Y’all are still beautiful as ever! Thanks so much for keeping this loopy-fruity Georgia gal on board :)
Love the vocal on Pack Up Your Sorrow. I love the singers voice. Not sure which of you it is.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for being friends with us and for keeping in touch. I think the social network at Myspace works best when we are all social eh? ;-)
