Rory Victrola started it all. We like books, good food and meeting new people so we gather once a month to enjoy all of those things...
Who I'd like to meet: People that want to read with us or pick up the bill
Who is down with Sunday the 18th??? I'm thinking early evening like last time. Also, is anyone morally opposed to eating at New Dehli near Loring Park???
hello animal lovers. my boyfriend's mom runs a cat rescue and she is moving and cannot take all of the 30+ cats she's got along with her. there are adult cats and kittens available. no adoption fees. i believe that all are spayed/neutered and have updated shots. sadly, if we cannot find homes, many will probably be euthanized. if you are able, or know someone who may be able to give a good home to a cat or two, please contact me. she currently lives in shoreview and is relatively conveniently located and i'll even go with you if you'd like to take a gander at the goods :) or i could send pictures.
Yes, a date would be great. We have met on Saturday early evenings, Thursday evenings, once on a Tuesday evening! Of course the last one was a brunch which was nice, even over the phone!
Today is the anniversary of the coup against Mossadegh. You'd think I'd have figured that out on my own, but no, it's on wikipedia today. I'm done with the book. I want to piss on the grave of Kermit Roosevelt.
Tales to tell from a strange land. I live in a house filled with ants. The roads have no signs and no one waits politely. My job is to be a goldminer of data. I've purchased a new bike with which to jump off small cliffs. Don't worry, I have a helmet. I'm eating my fair share of lobster. There is a Trader Joe's nearby. It's hot as I ride my bike to work. Hope book club is as entertaining as always. I miss everyone.
You know, I gotta be honest. I was thinking "Zombies, no way." No way I'd enjoy this book. But I finally started yesterday (6 days before meeting - way ahead of schedule for me), and I couldn't put the damn thing down! I read 255 pages yesterday. It is a very fine book and I'll have many things to say Saturday. You should too, or I'll bite your arm.
just started reading this morning -only managed a few pages on the bus, but it looks like a good one! gotta love imagery like "brown viscous matter" and "bones stabbed through his gray flesh" at 7:30 am!
I don't mean to be a flake, really I don't. I wanted to be there Saturday, but I injured myself last week and spent 4 days drugged up. Drugs and talking, for me, don't mix. So I sat on my couch, missing you all. Yes, missing you all, even though I haven't met most of you yet. Please forgive me. I will see you next month.
BTW - I really dug Potato City. And yes, I'm punny. :)
Dear Book Club, as some of you know I will be moving to Boston soon to start a new job. So, no more book club for me. Boo and it gets worse...this weekend I will be in Boston appartment hunting and will not be able to make it. However, it wouldn't me fair for me to just up and run... so I would like to invite everyone to my going away party next Thursday on May 10th, which Sarah is helping me organize. Time and place TBA, but mark your calendar for next Thursday.
