  • Bio

Toiling aimlessly in the isolated pub band scene in the North-East of England, Minnikin were planning their escape. A collision of 5 creative minds resulted in brutal-yet-tranquil melodic rock, and they were ready to expose their concept to the fatigued ears of the modern music world. Minnikin introduce a unification of soaring melodies and eloquent grooves and composition to what is generally a characterless rock genre in this decade.

Biography

Toiling aimlessly in the isolated pub band scene in the North-East of England, Minnikin were planning their escape. A collision of 5 creative minds resulted in brutal-yet-tranquil melodic rock, and they were ready to expose their concept to the fatigued ears of the modern music world. The first self-recorded album ‘Europa’ was simply a fork in the road, but not only a demonstration of the songcraft of Minnikin, but the band’s extraordinary ability to record, produce, mix and master their songs, being there at every stage of the songs progress right to the finish. The songs pushed the boundaries of what is generally expected lyrically of rock music, writing not only of social scenarios, but of dreams and utopian landscapes.

The debut album has created an overwhelmingly positive response from listeners and media. The album sold an astounding number of copies just from the official website and at local shows, as well as numerous downloads. “Thousand Apologies” held the number 1 spot for 7 days on the AudioStreet.net charts. The interest sparked interest from the local media, such as articles in the Echo, Gazette and Chronicle, even a local TV news spot. Minnikin have also appeared on national TV, including Orange unsignedAct 2008 on Channel 4, where Minnikin performed before Alex Zane, Kelly Osbourne and Lauren Laverne.

2009 was the year that Minnikin found their strong points and started exploiting them to generate new ideas for the forthcoming album release. A fresh injection of more organic influences, such as grunge and progressive inspiration, is forming more depth to this already multifaceted music. Have we only scratched the surface? “Right out of the box you will notice that Minnikin have something.” (P. Sinclair, Komodo Rock).

In 2010, Minnikin joined forces with rock brothers Under the Gun in the company of the collective umbrella Treadplate Records, to launch the new release and tour.
