After a 10 year break, MINTY are back with the new single Its A Game, part 2, feat Pete and Nikki, with London's loudest lungs Holestar on the chorus.
MAKE SURE U LISTEN TO THE DIFFERENT MIXES as they are all quite different.
'Its A Game part 2' was inspired by Nikki, her outbursts and Pete's charming and playful personality. Nikki and Pete's voices excited Richard Torry to start recording them and spinning them into his live DJ sets. The Kash Point dancefloor reaction was so explosive that a track seemed essential.
Whilst working Matthew and Richard concluded the track had the spirit, sound and sensibility of classic Minty. With this in mind they joined forces once again with Kinky Roland to collaborate on writing & production as they had with 'Its a Game part 1'. So here it is!!! Minty hope you have as much fun listening as they did making it!
Games that Minty love to play include consequences, pass the mike, create a disco look from household scraps and playing knock down ginger on their many disgusted adversaries.
'Its A Game part 1' featured vocals by Leigh and Nicola Bowery, Kristoff, 'that' Donald, Honolulu and Matthew Glamorre. The Minty project has always been about play in life, art and performance, but not all games are fun and Its A Game part 1 was released after the break up of the rock band that Matthew Glamorre and Richard Torry had been working with previously.
Keep your ears to the underground for future Minty releases and of course don't forget their seminal album Open Wide will soon be available on iTunes, www.kashpoint.com, etc.
Until now Minty's past releases have been impossible to hear or buy. Copies of the album 'Open Wide' command impressive figures when sold on Ebay. Soon the entire back catalogue, including remixes, will be available on iTunes, www.kashpoint.com, etc.
Minty was formed in 1992 by Richard Torry and Leigh Bowery as a conceptual art and performance project. Soon the duo become a trio when nightclub impressario and film-maker Matthew Glamorre joined. From then on the focus became much more musical. Nicola Bowery performed her famous glass shattering vocals and Matthew Glamorre pulled in various musicians from the London fringe to form the rock band that became the most notorious in Britian at the time.
Minty gained infamy for their abrasive theatrical performances, highlights of which included Leigh "giving birth" to Nicola on stage, Matthew undergoing gender reassignment as Homaphrodite, and Richard playing lead guitar hung upside down from a gallows. Such was their notoriety they were banned from performing by twenty borough councils from Leeds to Portsmouth. A record, beaten only by the Sex Pistols.
Sadly Leigh Bowery died on New Years Eve 1994 after recording only one single, Useless Man (a chart hit in the Netherlands). After Leigh's death. Minty formed a collective, known as The Offset. Members included Kinky Roland, Aiden Shaw (pornographic film star), Donald Urquart (poet), Sexton Ming (transvestite recording artist) and Add N To X.
The remaining members of Minty continued the group and released three further singles (Plastic Bag, That's Nice, Nothing) and an album (Open Wide). They toured with Pulp on the Differnt Class Tour. The video for That's Nice was shown on Top of the Pops.
Matthew Glamorre and Richard Torry collaborate on a number of music and club projects in London, including Kash Point (www.myspace.com/kash_point)
