I've put up a couple of tracks (Large Formation Of The 92nd Bomb Group and See Emily Grace) both taken from the 'Transmissions Minus The Pilots' sessions. This album is the one that'll be released by Futurerecordings sometime soon, maybe between Thanksgiving and Christmas but I'll let you know just as soon as it's all confirmed.
And this is the final album that'll be completely solo with a new member set to join up just as soon as I arrive back home following my WWII site recordings. We'll still be working within the confines of the bass but people all play slightly differently - even when they're playing the same thing they still play slightly differently - so it's a new chapter for the band and I'm really, really excited about what's coming up.
And the newer recordings being worked on at the moment are starting to take shape now. A few sketches have been loosely improvised and I've managed to get hold of a few old analogue overdrive/distortion pedals, which I'm messing around with at the moment. Whether or not these tracks will end up getting used is anyone’s guess but I am having quite a lot of fun experimenting with the pedals right now.
Finally for the Superior Proof of Cinema LP, the label got quite a few comments from people referencing the scratchy crackling that's present throughout the album so, although a bit late bearing in mind it was released in November last year, I thought I'd mention and maybe include a technical note going forward to say that the crackle on these recordings is caused by the use of numerous analogue delay pedals, various 60's basses, a broken four-track cassette tape recorder and sheer incompetence. And as ever with all Minus Pilots recordings, they're designed for listening through headphones while gazing at the stars...
My new 3 album box set ODESSA delves into the disgusting involvement the United States government had in hiding Nazi war criminals that were deemed, "intelligence assets", to be used against the Russians. ODESSA also examines the enthusiastic role the Franciscan Order, Argentinian and Chilean Governments, and Arab leaders who hated the Jews played in hiding and finding new homes for former fascists. It seems many nations had a reason to keep these monsters from being captured, and this is my attempt to expose the establishment of a Fourth Reich in South America that still exists to this day. He Of The House's very first (of many) compilation. Nineteen tracks from twenty artists, the end result of which is possibly one of the most diverse compilations I've ever heard. From soft spoken acoustic folk to raving, churning dirge tunes; from a noisy, industrial cover of a Sonic Youth song to oldschool punk from when it was still raw, fast, and unforgiving. Powerviolence peppers the grounds where spooked whispers whinny along, and the caustic words of a madman festering in his own mind play out over perpetually plucked guitar strings. A true honour it is to work with these amazing artists, and I do hope we can keep them coming back for years.
