About me: THEY say if you die in your dreams you'll not awaken in real life.
This is true...
Bitten by a wolf and sent into a coma, half-Native American Minx awoke in an ethereal world called Dreamtime where she was trained as a warrior by the Empress to protect other sleeping Natives who are connected by blood to the ley lines of the land, where all creativity stems from.
Seven years later, she is sent back to the living world known to her now as Wakesleep, where society has become corrupt and the evil THEY Corporation runs everything.
Minx lives in Wakesleep but enters Dreamtime at night, leading a pack of mystical wolves against her enemy Ptolemy, an assassin on a mission to kill as many Natives as possible so that THEY Corporation can manipulate the ley lines for their own agenda.
Inspired by Andrea Grant’s Native American heritage, MINX is a sardonic look at the conflict between the spiritual world and a world driven by corruption. Co-written by Gerry Jobe, illustrated by newcomer Celistella Rosario with cover art by Liza Biggers and Ted D’Ottavio, the characters are physically based on actual people in Ms. Grant’s everyday life. MINX is lettered by Philip Clark, the creator of Quantum: Rock of Ages.
Andrea Grant's MINX is an intricate project. The plot line is largely allegorical, and is infused with sardonic humor. The theme of the story is inspired the two differing realms of Ms. Grant's personal landscape: the intensely spiritual contemporary Native American life versus the rest of the commerce and capital driven world.
In her story, the two worlds are made fictional and phantasmagorical. Most characters in the Minx Comic exist in both worlds, but they are divided by circumstance into two cerebral dominions called WAKESLEEP and DREAMTIME. As with most sequential series, there is a constant battle between good and evil. What makes the Minx story unusual, however, is that every character is a part of both the good and the evil, representing humanity in an honest light. The characters are required to make difficult decisions involving morality, desire and intuition.
Who I'd like to meet: COMIC BOOK FREAKS! Allies, artists, writers, villains. People who like to read, because I know you are out there. Please restore my faith in humanity + intellectualism by writing something perfect.
