ODRADEK

suddenly there were words. the first signs of odradek. distant sounds, which gained meaning, when formed by the lips. but which shape was right? odradek tried to hide inside again, the discovery of his existence threatened him. the more light fell onto him, the more vulnerable he got. the word alone didn't provide shelter. he now has to release other signs, trying hard not to break down confronted with the world and her helplessness.

odradek decided to display his signs for interpretation. he is very aware of the fact that this is the only way he will exist for you. his signs break out to find meanings that wouldn't have an expression otherwise.

The man behind ODRADEK is an artist and audio engineer from Luebeck in Germany, who already had a remarkable success with his band Inscape at the beginning of the century. ODRADEK started as a solo project, literarily inspired by Franz Kafka's strange creature described in the short story "The worries of a householder". Though the concept had a strong literary aspect at first, it developed quickly into other genres. Now ODRADEK is recognized as a complex art project that covers literary, musical and visual aspects. All the different "signs" that will be released circle round the topic of expression and interpretation.

Musically ODRADEK stands for a new blend of IDM and industrial. Electronic soundscapes and melodic hooklines develop into soundtrack-like instrumentals complemented by spoken lyrics.

ODRADEK

plötzlich waren da worte! die ersten zeichen odradeks. ein neuer klang, der an bedeutung gewann, wenn man ihn mit den lippen formte. doch welche form war die richtige? die entdeckung seiner existenz bedrohte ihn. je mehr licht auf ihn fiel, desto verletzlicher wurde er. das wort allein bot nicht genügend schutz. er musste weitere und andere zeichen setzen. um nicht zu zerbrechen, an der welt und ihrer hilflosigkeit.

doch nun muss sich odradek der deutung stellen, denn nur darin ist er existent. seine zeichen brechen hervor und müssen zu bedeutungen finden, die sonst keinen ausdruck hätten. schon fürchtet der autor dieser zeilen, dass odradek solange sein innerstes zur deutung offenlegt, bis nichts eigentliches von ihm übrig bleibt. doch er hofft, dass odradek das eigentliche in ihm selber ist und deutung vielleicht irgendwann erkenntnis bringt.

an diesem ort werden odradeks zeichen nach und nach zur deutung freigegeben. der autor wird versuchen, geeignete ausdrucksformen für das zu finden, was odradek sein könnte. letztlich ist jedoch die wahl der form auch nur das ergebnis seiner eigenen interpretation.
