| About Mirage |
No one is as they appear, particularly teenagers. There is always so much more going on under the surface than what meets the eye. Teenagers are deep. They are smart. They are amazing people with incredible ideas and vision, and many of them posses talents and gifts that many don't realize they even have. Mirage was established in 2006 as the local youth outreach of the non-profit, Christian outreach ministry, LIGHTDANCERS. We chose the name Mirage, because in the same way that a real mirage gives the appearance of something that may or may not exist, so it is that we have found that an encounter with a teenager often results in the same outcome. In other words, the youth are all too often being judged and labeled by appearance long before anyone can determine if what they see is really what they get or if something completely different and equally as surprising lies underneath the appearance of the person set before them. On October 21, 2006 Mirage opened it’s doors in Wellington, Kansas as a means of providing a positive environment where those 13 thru 20 could hang out, develop their creative gifts and occupy their time in a way that was conducive to their lifestyle. For those who attended regularly, many memories were made and good times were had before the doors closed on March 31, 2007. And although our closing was heartbreaking, both for us as well as our patrons, we know without a doubt that Mirage served it’s purpose in the lives of the individuals who were a part of this moment in Wellington’s history. The physical doors may have closed on this establishment, but the efforts of a lifetime will continue. We have chosen to keep this MySpace page as a reminder of the difference that can be made by the human heart when a determined spirit sets out to do something positive for the benefit of others. We have chosen to keep this MySpace page as a way of staying connected to those who have found a special place in our lives through the endeavor that was Mirage. We have chosen to keep this MySpace page as a way of continuing our personal efforts to reach the next generation for Christ as we post items from time to time that we feel will both benefit the youth in a practical means as well as uplifting them spiritually. We have chosen to keep this MySpace page for you!
