   About Miranda Quammie

Miranda Quammie grew up in London and St. Vincent and writes ballads, pop songs and meditative, beat-driven tracks that reflect her dual heritage and examine themes such as identity, memory, childhood, the English landscape - both urban and pastoral, and travel to name a few. Often influenced by literature, she works to create a lyrical depth and melodic poignancy that attest her interest in the narrative and poetic power of song.

She has been performing her songs live at the piano since 2005 at venues across London such as the Hope and Anchor, the Cobden Club, the Bedford, the Soho Revue Bar, Ginglik, the Troubadour and in 2009 she played a 45-minute set at the renowned Union Chapel.

Miranda was selected as a nominee for the 2007 Indy Music Awards for her live performance.

Miranda has performed live and been interviewed on Resonance radio. In addition, her recordings have been played on several different Resonance programmes, including the Rough Trade programme.

Miranda has recently expanded her live set-up to include a ‘cellist and she hopes to add a percussionist and a loop player in the near future.

Miranda has worked hard to set up a home studio and to develop production skills. Using these she is currently recording her debut album and aims to be finished within the next few months. She intends to release this album under her own label and to find distribution.

“Her songs have the rare quality of being able to draw you into a private world, a world of her own creation, while still allowing you to discover nuances and sensations of your own.” Small Fish Review, November 2006

Hey - good to hear from you. Hopefully catch up soon. I'm kind of hoping to be in Holland on the date of your gig, but if that doesn't work out, I shall try to make it down.

Hi Miranda hope you are well - do you fancy coming back to Northampton in the new year?

Please excuse the spamminess, but, well, it's just that we have a fabulous new album coming out on the 13th December - there are some new clips of it on our page.

And, well, anyway, we would very much like it if you came to our launch night. Tickets are selling fast via http://www. nettlewine. com/shop, where you can also pre-order the album if you are not coming to the launch.

Pre-orders will arrive on or before December 16th, so there is no need to do ANY other xmas shopping AT ALL! :D xxx

'Over Ely' never fails to put a shiver down the spine. Beautiful song. You have a gift that many singer/songwriters (including myself) lack. I await the album with eager ears...

“Put Mama Shamone on at any venue and they are likely to take the roof off, this was one of the best live shows I’ve seen in years - certainly one of the best in London. In my opinion these guys are destined for greatness, it felt like I was witnessing history being shaped-something was just so right about what they were doing up there.” Vibe Bar

Hi Miranda, thanks for the comment and i'm delighted that not everyone down south has forgotton my music! also glad to know your album will be this year, as will mine be. It's coming along slowly but surely, actually I've just put some of the tracks up if it interests you. Shame you can't make the Halfmoon but I know what I'd choose between Putney and Florida! let me know when your album is out! cheers from the north.
