As an organism, it is currently defunct. However, it used to be comprised of human parts. Former shells of human beings. mostly. Or something. They are now in The Coma Years. However, the micro-organisms are still functional. They consist of many humans. They are doing things. Now. They are very good. Hear them!

Some of it, namely Katharine Blake, spawned the Mediaeval Baebes, twelve wiccan wenches from the wrong side of hell, and forced them to sing mediaeval music. if you like beautiful girls with attitude who sing delightfully, this might be barking up your tree. Before you know it. Shes recently been producing and guesting on a new LP By Nick Marsh (Flesh For Lulu, Urban Voodoo Machine, Gigantic, Naked Goat etc), available now. Another thing, that calls itself Ben Golomstock, nurtured something unspeakable called the Naked Goat, dabbled in all kinds of nonsense, currently cavorts with Owls, and has just finished a project called Stories From The Moon, a sprawling monstrosity that features people from Miranda Sex Garden, the Mediaeval Baebes, Queen Adreena, Daisy Chainsaw, and a panoply of other people that you would not want to shake a stick at. Really, please dont shake a stick at them. We dream of reclining on a cloud pulled by an elite of swans, being served cocktails by Jesus in the hanging gardens of Babylon .Sometimes it happens. Or we think it does. We eat golden eggs from a diamond goose. And deserve to. Or think we do. Sometimes, in our dreams, we still ride the collective hairy toad. Who cares. Do you?

Three girls singing madrigals on Portobello Road in London, picked up by Barry Adamson from the Bad Seeds and whisked off to Mute Records to do it there. They did. They released an LP called Madra. Then some boys came along and made it horrid. The drums were Trevor Sharpes fault, and the noises etc. were the fault of Ben Golomstock. Things became more confusing. The horror continued. Along with many more releases (Iris, Suspiria, Fairytales of Slavery, Carnival of Souls).

They also ended up on tour with the likes of Hole, Einsturzende Neubauten, Depeche Mode (in which they were pelted with poo), Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Spiritualised, and, improbably, Moby.

At some point, there was a cabaret band called The Waltzing Maggots. Along with all sorts of shenanigans that are unmentionable.

People left. People joined. Here are some who were amongst them: Michael Servent(Keys), Theresa Cassella (Bass), Kim Fahey (Bass), Barney Hollington (Violin), Donna McKevitt (Viola/vocals - Shes released a thing called Translucence. Look it up if you feel like it),) Kelly McCusker (vocals), Jocelyn West (vocals - and so on.
