About Mirëkemen (by Sofreyja) - Pagan classical /ambient
"Mirëkemen" is a musical project created in 2008.
I was born in the French Alps, and I have always been living in these beautiful landscapes that I know very well now. I really discovered what music was thanks to my brother (who first made me discover punk bands such as NOFX, Anti-Flag, Dropkick Murphys or Rise Against when I was ten - and punk is a kind of music I still love! -, then heavy-metal bands such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom...). I started playing the guitar in 2005 and I used to play in a melodic punk/metal band which doesn't exist anymore, Pledge Of Relief. The more time passes, the more I love Nature, paganism, celtic and classical music, and I enjoy playing other instruments (violin, whistle, bass guitar, keyboards, and traditionnal instruments...)
So, during the spring 2008, I decided to make my own music.
Inspired by the whole work of J.R.R. Tolkien since I was 11, I decided to imagin a world, Mirëkemen, and to create a music for each place in this world. In Mirëkemen, a god and a goddess are annoyed of their life, and they decide to leave their work for a moment, to discover the world they live in and its secrets. From fir-trees forests to high summits, I created a world inspired by the Middle-Earth, by Nordic lands and by the mountains I have always been living in. Mirëkemen, an ode to Nature, to the most beautiful thing ever.
