MirrorView originally started out under the name ‘Chairmen Of The Bored’ in summer 2002, but in March 2007 they decided to change their name to MirrorView.
Drawing influences from a vast range of rock, pop and punk, MirrorView have constructed a distinctive sound - with their focus on unforgettable melodies and an effective less-is-more approach to the music.
MirrorView pride themselves in being one of few unsigned UK to bands to book and headline their own tours, with their biggest tour being 48 days. Since 2006 the band have played and headlined in nearly every area of the UK.
In May 2008 MV finall released their debut album 'Black January' after having sold 1000s of CD’s recorded in Bens bedroom at gigs. They recorded their album in Reading at Outhouse Studios using producer John Mitchell (Funeral For a Friend, Enter Shikari) in 2 weeks. The album is on sale now through the MirrorView webstore and is also available on ITunes.
“Life at Outhouse is very very busy. In the course of a year we work with probably in excess of 50 bands. It's always very cool indeed when you work with a band and you manage to connect with them on both a personal and musical level. Working with MirrorView was definitely one such occasion. Ben (Humphreys - Engineer/ Producer at Outhouse) and I had a great time working with the guys and we are very very proud of the end result. One thing though...lets easy off on the livers next time lads :-)”
John Mitchell, Producer - Outhouse Studios (Enter Shikari, Funeral for a Friend)
(Talking about recording MirrorViews debut album – Black January)
"We received a CD this week from a band called MirrorView, and I just have to say we really are diggin it here! So Im going to play it now for you!"
Laurence Guest, Kerrang! Radio
"This is not just pop-punk, this is something new, something so understatedly different that it sneaks up on you and gets under your skin without you realising until your told to stop humming the same song to death and put the real version on! With their recent EP, Mirrorview have secured themselves an explosive fanbase that waits in anticipation for their next creation. Mirrorview are about to take the rock scene by storm- you were warned, don’t be caught unaware."
Vicky Ilankovan, Rock Industry Magazine
"This 5-track EP, which was sold on their recent UK tour, serves as a demo for the band’s debut album, which will be released in February 2008.
Evoking memories of Funeral for a Friend this EP certainly shows their potential and although the pop rock market is crammed with new bands they have good tunes that should carry them through.
Standout track ‘See You There’, a song about working hard and holding on to break through, really captures the bands’ spirit and drive.
To be honest I could picture all five songs as singles and they are certainly radio-friendly, sing along songs that are great for driving to."
Gordon Neil, 'is this music?' An Independent Scottish Music Magazine
"Delivering a driving pop-rock blend, English band MirrorView appear to have good cause to boast of their work ethic and commitment to making a career out of their music. There are hooks and licks, and plenty of power. Simple, powerful melodies with powerful anthemic hooks: it’s a good formula, and this one works nicely."
Dave Chislett - Publicist, music journalist, published author on behalf of Matchbox Recordings
