MISbHAVIN! With Pat Hunter & Danny Kean
MISbHAVIN! With Pat Hunter & Danny Kean formed in October 2003
And has been the talk of the town ever since!
Now, whether you “love em or hate em” you’ve got to admit one thing…these guys are damn good!
Within their first year together, this group swept through the New York area like a musical tsunami. Blues based and Funk soaked rhythms drenched all in their path.
MISbHAVIN! Features, original and traditional material. But, don’t be mistaken…
“Traditional”, with a twist! How many bands do you know that can go from Muddy Waters to the Ohio Players on the drop of a dime?
As Stated by Newsday’s music critic Rafer Guzman, “Hunter’s deep down vocal power and Kean’s versatile keyboards (he can mimic anything from a full horn section to the nagging jingle of a cell phone) are tough to beat.”
MISbHAVIN’s history has been as eventful as their performances. Founded in October 2003 by blind Keyboardist/ Singer songwriter Danny Kean, and smoking hot Blues Diva, Pat Hunter.
Kean, a gifted piano player from young age, had by 18 become one of New York’s most notable Keyboardists, playing with such great acts as, Ashford and Simpson, Maxine Brown, Gary U S Bonds, and Blues legend Sam Taylor.
In contrast upon forming MISbHAVIN! Pat had virtually no experience. You see Pat was somewhat of an enigma, along with her immense talent and drive; she carried with her an overwhelming fear of performing! Her life and family history was routed in the Blues. Her aunt Catherine once being a featured singer in the famed Billy Eckstein trio and as rumored by family folklore, her great aunt Izzy taught guitar to Blues legend Jimmy Reed! Pat’s life of hardships and let downs proved to be the seedbed of her effected sound. Pat embraced her family legacy. She faced her fears, when presented by Bluesman Sam Taylor to an audience of over eight-hundred avid music lovers. It was this, her first performance that she was christened, “Blues Diva” by music reporter Rich Hughes.
In their 5 years together the band has garnered many achievements both collectively and individually. MISbHAVIN! was named “Best Blues Band on Long Island” by New York Newsday. The group also had the honor of representing New York City and The New York Blues and Jazz Society in Memphis for the annual International Blues Challenge as “Best Unsigned Blues Band in New York City.”
. By 2005 MISbHAVIN! had become a star attraction In the Tri-state area. Kean had toured Europe 4 times both as a backup Musician and an Opening act. As a solo act Kean went on to win the coveted “Amateur Night at the Apollo” several times. Kean also wrote and produced for Maxine Brown and Gary US Bonds. While Pat’s premiere cd appropriately entitled, “Life Lessons” debuted to critical acclaim, and was played by over 300 radio Stations nationally and internationally. Life Lessons would remain in rotation on many Blues programs for the next year and a half.
In 2007 Pat's "Ask Your Man" from the Life Lessons CD was featured on Jomar records "National Women in Blues"
If these two dynamic performers aren’t enough to make you sweat, another weapon in the MISbHAVIN! arsenal will, guitarist Donny Celenza. Donny has to be most sought after guitarist on the east coast. With forty years under his belt it’s no wonder that Donny has played with such legends as Lightning Hopkins, Hubert Sumlin, and Little Buster and the Soul Brothers to name a few. Nothing sums up Donny more than a statement by the late great Little Buster,” I've been playing with Donny over 20 years. He's phenomenal. His playing is very soulful. Donny is a little shy, but he lets his fingers do the talking. He's one of the best guitar players I've ever heard."
The group’s newest addition is drummer Phil (Baby Face) Bloom. Who came aboard in May 2007. But, don’t let his youthful appearance fool you! Phil has 21 years as a professional drummer under his belt! Having backed up such acts as the Coasters, the Drifters , the Platter’s and Dee Dee Ramone (WOW, talk about versatile!) Phil is the drum instructor at The Collegiate School, currently the no. 2 private school in the nation. His teaching methods are featured in 30 self-authored drum instruction books. Through mentors, Bernard Purdie and Sam Ulano,
Phil’s tight groove and almost telepathic sense of musicianship, is
the perfect finish to MISbHAVIN’s! already stellar cast of players.
Each MISbHAVIN! Show is like a roller coaster ride! No two shows are alike!
What separates MISbHAVIN! from most bands is their uncanny ability to read an audience. Forgoing the use of a “set list” they use their intuitive ability to play “what works”.
Whether it is hard driving Blues, smooth R&B, Classic Rock or poppin Funk this band knows how to deliver!
MISbHAVIN! Currently plays select venues along the east coast.
