Misericorde was formed by Murray Geddes, former bass player of Hellhound Records stalwarts Year Zero. After trying to assemble a live band, the project essentially became an outlet for Murray's musical ideas. Several songs were written and recorded with Murray supplying both bass and guitar, and a computer brain doing drummer impressions.
The search for additional musicians continued, and after over a year of discussion and umm-ing and ah-ing, and the straightening out of personal business (read getting his shit together), James Moffatt finally decided to get his finger out and pick up a bass once more. Following several successful jams, the rhythm guitar and bass positions were both filled.
In April 2006, the band was complemented by Dave Pinnington on drums, and the focus changed to tightening up the existing songs with a view to recording a demo and getting some gigs.
In 2007, the band recorded its first demo, "Soundscapes for the Disenchanted", and it was released to positive reviews from the underground doom community. Doors were opened and in 2008 the band played Heavyfest IV and the massive Doom Metal Inquisition V at the 1-in-12 club in Bradford, as well as shows with Iron Void & Unsilence.
We recorded the second demo "Misericorde" over rehearsal 2 sessions in November 2008, and released in the following December, again to very positive reviews. In January 2009, we played the Doomsday all-dayer in Wakefield.
Circumstances transpired against us in late 2008, with Murray being made redundant and then had to relocate to north Scotland for work. Just when it was all coming together, the economy transpired against us... After discussing things, the band have decided to go on hiatus for the foreseeable, but we are definitely not ruling out getting back together in the future!
