The Misers are a band from England consisting of singer/songwriter Neil Ivison and Hammond/Rhodes player Adam Barry.
Born and raised in Herefordshire, Neil is blessed with a soulful, passionate voice and the gift of being able to tell a story in a song. Along with Adam, The Misers delivers them in a unique style that draws inspiration from The Rolling Stones and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
The Misers specialise in the truth. Songs about friends, drinking, brushes with the law, love, broken relationships, fights, jobs. Real songs about rural life and country people played in a simple, direct and honest way.
The Misers debut album 'Amplified Life Stories', recorded at Rockfield Studios with producers Ian Morgan & Tom Oliver (Proclaimers, It Bites, Roy Harper) and engineered by Matt Butler (Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, Mick Jagger) is a concise and focused collection of 10 unadorned gems, mixing Soul, Americana and Folk, drawing comparisons with Ryan Adams and The Band.
"Amplified Life Stories” was released on 1st June 2009
Hi folks, see you're not playing on either the 4th or 20th December in which case you might like to come to the Wild Hare Club on those nights. On friday the 4th I've got US singer-songwriter Catherine Feeny playing a freebie. She'll be joined by Them Bonies who ply a good line in gspelish Americana. On the 20th I've got The Urban Voodoo Machine from London and friends and that should be a real balst.
I'm Co Hosting The Dave Charles radio show this sunday (1st Nov) 102.3hfm from 19.00GMT, never co hosted a whole show before and a little nervous, so if you could listen in and show some support it would really appreciated x Wishing you a great weekend :)
This month we mostly have Catie Curtis (with a Richard Thompson cover), Lindsay Fuller and The Cheap Dates (and who amongst us isn't?), Josh Fix with a track from the well-titled album This Town Is Starting To Make Me Angry and the rather lovely Red Rooster.
Just thought i'd say hello, and how much i'm loving your album, really great songs. Looking forward to seeing you play at The Kitchen Garden Cafe in October.
Four more little sonic gems for your August pleasure are now available on the site. Blitzen Trapper, Boulder Acoustic Society, Jay Brannan and The Wiyos. Yet another fine quartet even though we say so ourselves as picked them out.
