Miss Alphabet was born in 1996 as simply an internet handle. If any of you are familiar with The Glove (a side project of The Cure's Robert Smith and Siouxie and the Banshees' Steve Severin) you'll see the name is a reference to their song "Mr. Alphabet Says." Meanwhile, in 2004 I began selling various items on eBay under the name Japanesewhispers (another cure reference), to save money for a trip to Portland, Oregon with my best friend. The name was eventually changed to Miss Alphabet.
Having never been below a size 12 in my life, most of my work tends to be geared towards the larger-sized teen/twentysomething demographic. Once in a while I'll remember my slender customers, I don't discriminate! However, for the most part I leave the smaller sizes to most of the other DIY'ers out there! Go out and support DIY fashion!
Once in a while I'll offer thrift store finds and a few vintage pieces!
If you check my feedback, you'll see that I have 100% positive! Nope, not a single negative! I have many happy customers, and I invite them all to share pictures of them sportin' my schtuff! Don't be camera shy :) All photos will be posted in the "Happy Customers" blog of this page.
Please help us spread the word about this show we're playing this Friday at The S.I.C. Lounge in Visalia with San Francisco bands SLOW TRUCKS and MONARCHS! They kick ass and so will this show! Try to make it out! Thanks!
You sent a request to follow me on Twitter, but I may have accidentally pressed the wrong button when I tried to accept it. Will you please resend it? :)
Yeah I was going to call you and ask if you had my strapless dress and that red shirt of mine? Where do you live? I could probablly meet up with you sometime, or if you're going to work with Liz or Josiah anytime soon you could just leave it with them and I could get it from them sometime.
I really really enjoyed wearing your stuff, the quality was so much higher than the average hand made article of clothing. That skirt was amazing! Anyone I've showed the first pictures to just goes on and on about what a gorgeous skirt it is! Let me know if you'd like to work again!
