A transplant to the Bay Area scene, DJ MISSAO (Lauren Whistler) founded her electronic roots around 1998, frequenting what was then a fully functioning underground music scene that flourished below her birthplace of Buffalo, NY. She began playing old school drum and bass, ragga, and jungle sounds while simultaneously working with techno, progressive and hard house. Influences include: DONALD GLAUDE, DEREK CARTER, DJ RAP, DJ ICEY, NIKOLA, SS, DIESELBOY, APHRODITE, VENOM, DANNY TENAGLIA, BAD BOY BILL, and DEEP DISH. After moving to L.A. in 2002, Lauren developed a true appreciation for the classic style of house, but it was not enough for the young DJ. Craving the darker, harder sounds that had influenced her in N.Y., Lauren moved up the coast, pushing North into San Francisco, CA. Now residing in the Bay Area, MISSAO has developed her own unique blend of electro-tek, tech-house, breaks, and the eclectic, funky, bumping beats that keep her consistently moving minds, bodies, souls, and feet. At the present this musician is working industriously on new and exciting projects which include live performances, fresh vocal tracks, and promoting top shelf dance music and her own musical vision - Source4. Im doing well. I healed it only took a week or so. Whiplash was the WORST!!! omg! But haha I got booked back out there again. I went inside and still played for abt 45 mins then went haha AFTER the car accident. Funny huh. But hey they want me back out there. This time...
