Oi listen! I'm hecleptic you knooowu! INNIT DOUGH!
I was lost. I'd just quit my job, had no money and couldn't focus. I had ambition and drive but seemed to be finding it difficult to channel it all into something productive. I felt pretty useless I suppose. I knew I wanted to do music full time, but how? I'd never been self employed before! There were forms and taxes and stuff I didn't understand... I was starting to think I was going to fail. SO with time on my hands, a bottle of red wine on the table and a bunch of songs in my head I decided that writing was the way to go. I picked up a guitar and started tryin a ting... some good stuff came out, but what to do with it? Pitching? Gigging? I didn't feel ready... then 1 day it became clear. I was gonna run the marathon LOL! How did I get that I hear you ask!? I'm not sure... it was a slap round the back of the head from above almost. I'd have to sort myself out and be really focussed to do it. I'd have to stop smoking, drinking and generally being miserable. I'd have to be committed to something and that something would be bigger than me cause I would be running for a cause. For a charity of some sort. So not only would my body and mind become fit and active but I would be doing it for the good of mankind! The hippy in me was satisfied. Run I Would!
My mother worked for OxFam. Ms Zadio Masala, my mama, died last year March 7th '08 and I haven't stopped missing her since :) When we 1st arrived here in London, we didn't have a lot. Mum used to go to Charity shops to dress us, it being all she could afford. That and Woolworths clothing at Christmas. My mum had a keen fashion sense and eye for style and, as we all know, charity/second hand stores can be goldmines... I guess it made perfect sense that she would one day become an Oxfam shop manager, one of the best so I am told :) She managed the shop in Chiswick... you know it was buff! My mother did love me so and I feel blessed to have had such a wonderful being in my life. Without her I am nothing. She has given me my all. I run for her and I run for a Charity that has not only supported those in need all over the world for over 65 years, but that has also provided me with clothing, books and shoes for the past 18 years and continues to do so now! I LOVE OXFAM! Don't you?

I am me!
I
write from my soul when I write for myself... I've been blessed enough to work with some amazing people and sit in rooms with some amazing artists of all kinds.
My musical taste is varied so my songwriting style I think reflects that. I have loved and lost, learned and gotten wiser, eaten and gotten fatter, observed and
seen things that I never did see before... yes I'm a bit of a trekkie... and a geek... The most amazing thing to have ever happened to me ever is to have been raised by mother :) I wish I had more of her character... her patience, her understanding, her flat stomach... I'm running the Flora London Marathon for OXFAM. I need my epiphany back... plus I've already said I would LOL!

Hi beautiful was great performance you did last month for Soul Unique.. nuff love.. keep special.. yeah our next Blessed Souls Open mic show jam is Friday 19th June in West London, Blag Club.. yepie!
Hey well make sure you tell Jo that Fred from Acoustic Alchemy says a huge hello!!! We once did a wicked fun road trip together to a studio session in Germany.
I drove down from leeds one night to stay at hers, before we had to be up to leave for the channel tunnel early next morning.... I got there at about 1am. Someone mentioned the word passport.. i realized i'd forgotten it.. drank a cup o tea.. then charged back up to leeds.. (3 1/2 hrs..) got home.. drank another cup o tea.. picked up my passport.. then charged back to london.. drank another cup o tea at Jo's then we drove to Dover.. sat on the tunnel for 40 mins.. then drove across to germany... then did the session !!!! It was mental.. the longest drive of my life!!!! But Jo was a blast!! I miss her. We should all hook up in Dec. I'll be back in Soho for for 3 weeks playing at the Pizza. Lets drink!!
That makes you a winner. You did what you set out to do. Now you know you can achieve all that you put your mind to. Well done baby. Someone up there is so proud of you. You know that.. we all know that.
