I think the biggest problem facing our environment today is global warming & the lack of recycling.

I think that we need to start with education, when we educate people on what is happening and what can be done to reverse or prevent global warming from continuing than we have done half the battle. After education you need to help people implement those needed changes into their lives.

There are many little things that people can do that will make a large difference if we are all doing them. I think the first and easiest place to start is with recycling, we need to reduce our waste. The second is to be more energy efficient and “green” in our lifestyles.

I plan on using my title Miss Earth Calgary as a platform to get peoples attention and to teach them about those little changes they should be making.

What makes you proud being CANADIAN?

It is funny to try and answer a question that makes you think of all the stereotypical answers. Until you realize that those stereotypical answers really are something to be proud of, it doesn’t matter how many people use them. Am I proud that our country is peaceful, polite, helpful, selfless, tolerant & accepting? – YES! Am I proud that our country is so kind, gentle and generous that other nationalities chose to wear our flag when visiting other countries because we are viewed as some of the best citizens of the world? – YES! I am proud of being Canadian when I walk down the street and everyone says hello to each other and smiles. I am proud that our country provides aid for others around the world.

What I most proud of however is that we are any example to the world of how to except other people no matter what race, gender, or culture you are. We are the future of where our world is heading, we are a mosaic not a melting pot. Do I believe there is still work to be done to improve our equality standards? – yes. But what I am proud of is that we WANT to improve those standards and strive to keep doing that, and in that we are an example for the world.

I am proud of our freedoms and rights and I am proud to say I belong to one of the greatest countries in the world.
