Hey and welcome to the official Missin'a-Bit myspace!
The Bio
Missin a Bit formed in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire in late 2004. Several line-up changes took place before they settled on a three piece of Derek Watson (bass/lead vocals), Darren McCaughey (guitar/backing vocals) and Steven Sherry on drums. All three were friends prior to the band forming and that bond has clearly contributed to their on-stage tightness.
While Missin a Bits style is instantly recognisable, they do possess a diverse repertoire of songs, which may be a result of the three members wide range of influences. This has helped them to build a fanbase covering many age groups and not just their own, a rare achievement for any young band.
The bands progress since last year has been rapid and a succession of gigs in some of Glasgows top venues including Rockers, The Cathouse, Ivory Blacks, The Attic and Soundhaus, as well as opening for Californian punks Takota at the Barfly in May 2006 has seen them establish a significant and growing live following. Their energetic and charismatic live performances have helped enhance their reputation, which has spread to the extent that are regularly offered gigs across Scotland and the North of England.
Perhaps Missin a Bits greatest achievement to date has been to reach the Scottish Final of Emergenza, the worldwide battle of the bands competition no mean feat given the high standard of acts taking part and the fact that they were among the youngest bands competing. The final will take place at the famous Carling Academy in Glasgow in June 2006.
Missin a Bit have achieved a great deal in their relatively short existence. With several songs recorded, frequent live shows and youth on their side, they will surely continue to grow and remain a band to watch for many years to come.
