A mission baby is a child soldier forced to fight in a war for their country. Taking their name from this shows they're as serious as the band that took their name from the prostitution wing of a Nazi concentration camp - Joy Division.
Their music is in the mould of blue-collar soul like The Gaslight Anthem, The Hold Steady and of course Bruce Springsteen. Their breathless riffs and intense vocals show they have true stadium-humping potential. Van Johnston delivers emotional and powerful vocals and genuinely looks like he's having the time of his life when he dances like a man who's socks are made of hot wax.

A Liverpool Quartet full of raw energy, passion and most of all musical prowesses. Formed in the back alley rehearsal rooms of Liverpool city centre The Mission Babies have gone on to create a unique blend of Northern Soul, Rock, Pop, Jazz and Blues. This sound accompanied with the sheer energy and drive in which the lads deliver it has already started to attract the attention of most gig goers and music fans. With a fantastic back catalogue of gigs already under their belt The Mission Babies continue their assault of the music scene within the UK.
Having already sold out most venue’s in Liverpool and Manchester, including the Manchester Academy and the O2 Liverpool Academy, The Mission Babies have set the tone for things to come and with another wave of gigs on the horizon and the release of their bootleg EP ‘The Time is Now’ The Mission Babies look set to continue on their way to becoming a must have for anyone’s CD collection.
With a driving and melodic backline so precisely performed by drummer Danny Mc and bass player Billy Lake, guitarist Jay Ryder fires out the most intensely catching riffs and solo’s, topped off by the fantastically powerful yet immensely emotional vocals of lead singer/songwriter Kenny Van Johnston to produce a sound the band themselves simply like to call ‘Chunky’.
