Mission Beach is one of the BEST BEACHES in Southern California with over 8 miles of boardwalk along the ocean and Mission Bay, which has over 4,000 acres of water and beaches in the surrounding area.
Mission Beach is a place to have fun and was designated by master planners who wanted to see this as San Diego's 2nd most popular beach (behind Coronado). John D. Spreckels built and ran rail lines and trolley lines into the area in 1925 and then built the then Mission Beach Amusement Center (now known as Belmont Park) which featured The Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, amusement rides and plenty of places to eat.
No other beach in Southern California has the amount of parks, water and green grass spaces as Mission Beach.
It is a very scenic place and a fun place for friends and family to hang out. Located just below Pacific Beach it is the home to about 3,500 residents.
