About me:
Mission to Morocco is an effort on behalf of T. Winand to earn funds to participate in an overseas volunteer program hosted by Cross-Cultural Solutions. The program is for women's empowerment. The chosen location is Morocco.*******
Why Morocco?
Although Islamic law, the shar'ia, declares that women are free to divorce, own property, and pursue an education, this law does not always translate into practice, and often women do not have the resources or know-how to improve their lives or the lives of their children.
For this reason, local agencies, in conjunction with CCS, are operating shelters where women can learn skills which will help them secure a better future for themselves and their families.*******
Volunteer programs last between 3-12 weeks. I have chosen to enroll in a 12 week program. Not only will it allow me more time to make a difference, it will also provide more education in the languages, cultural and religious traditions of Morocco.
I feel it is urgent in this day and age to be able to relate to the Islamic world and to be able to move through life as an educated global citizen.*******
There are MANY ways you can support this mission, and you do NOT necessarily need to spend a dime if you chose not to.
Watch for bulletins and blog entries which will detail my fund~raising sites and efforts!*******
