ROLLER DERBY!!!

Fast Paced, Hard Hitting Action!!
That is part of what derby is about!

The Mississippi Rollergirls has been THE Roller Derby team on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since March 2006! After recruiting and practicing for a year the Mississippi Rollergirls, better known as MSRG, took to the track in their first Season of competition in September 2007!! MSRG played very well in their first season against new teams and veteran teams. The Vets said they had never been challenged the way we challenged them and they really had to work out there on the floor! What does that say for MSRG? WE ARE KICK ASS SKATERS OUT ON THE DERBY TRACK!!

Derby is a sport that is hard hitting, fast paced, and challenging but a sport that any one can excel at if they just try. We have ladies from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, and all ages (well, gotta be at least 18). Do you wanna see if you can do it? We will let ya!!! No harm in trying!! And don’t worry, we do train you in proper skills before putting you in a bout! Give us a shout here on myspace OR at recruit@mississippirollergirls.com.

Derby is a great game. Yes, we get bruised and sometimes hurt but that comes with any game. Any soccer play, basketball player, etc will tell you sore muscles, bruises, and sometimes injury is part of the game. MSRG takes this sport seriously. We are here to train as a legitimate sports team and compete against other teams across the county, as well as, MSRG teams within our league.

The Mississippi Rollergirls train hard on and off the track. This is legitimate sport that was revived and has spread like wildfire all over the world over the last 5 years. You can do it. You can be a lawyer, a nurse, a waitress, WHO CARES! You can be any age and any size! That is one of the unique things about Roller Derby. We also have tons of fun off the track! We can often be found doing community events like Heart and Breast Cancer Walks, playground builds at local schools and parks or we can be found having a great time at area hangouts, casinos, businesses, hockey games, etc. It is also about the fun!!

Who I'd like to meet:

The Mississippi Rollergirls also are looking for Officials, Announcers, Cheerleaders, Medical Personnel for bouts, and of course SPONSORS! Men and Women both can be Officials in Roller Derby. A common misconception is that it is only girls. We need both men and women to finish out the other things that allow us to compete. While it is girls that are competing we need Officials to keep us legal and safe. That can be done by men or women, remember that!!
