Sam aka Miss Jade was born in St. Ignatius MT in the old Indian Hospital. Born into this world as a child of two spirits, Sam/Jade found life on the reservation to be very sheltered. The son of a single mother, Sam found that he had a talent for the arts and music. He found himself drawing, singing and playing music at a very young age. He would look up at the mountains surrounding his home and wished for a life larger than his backyard. It wasn't until college that he found himself and then later his calling in life as Miss Jade.
Miss Jade's first love, however, is the “art of drag”. Drag is not just putting on a dress and lip syncing to a song. Drag, when done right, is a transformation of the entire person.
Miss Jade found that she could be herself completely and express feelings that she would not have otherwise expressed. She is a born comedian and loves to hear people laugh. “I do feel laughter can heal all wounds no matter how deep."
Miss Jade found a home on the stage. She has been performing for many years and has performed songs ranging from dance to ballads. She believes that an audience pays money to be entertained and that is extactly what she is going to do, entertain them. When she was asked what the key to being a good drag queen is, she said simply, “BE NICE”.
Miss Jade has done Drag in 6 states and has peformed on many stages, but her roots are in Montana. She helped create Famous Divas in Montana so that she could help keep the art of Drag alive in this rural community. She feels blessed to have been able to build a peformance group in Montana with some very talented Queens who are not only Divas in their own right, but true friends. So be on the lookout for this Diva as she keeps growing and improving her art.
A quote by Miss Jade. “Remember, the person in your life that needs your love the most is, ....... yourself.”
