Having collected records for as long as she can remember, music has always been central to Karen P's life and career.
She established herself at the tender age of 23 as one of the youngest producers at BBC Radio 1, on Gilles Peterson’s weekly ‘Worldwide’ broadcasting phenomenon. She enhanced the original ‘join the dots’ concept of the show, while changing the format, by organising sessions and live events, and introducing established artists whilst continuing to nurture new talents. Under Karen’s watchful eye, the Radio 1 Worldwide show toured the UK and international spots at the Miami Winter Music Conference, Sonar Electronic Festival in Barcelona and Exit in Serbia among many more.
Having set-up and project managed Gilles Peterson’s monthly ‘Independent Mix’ club night in London, Karen went on to start Broad Casting; a groundbreaking event which is built around unique collaborations curated by Karen herself and broadcast on Red Bull Music Academy Radio. Karen's DJ sets are always as eclectic, deep and thoughtful as the lineups themselves and whether she’s turning hip-hop or broken beat, R’n'B or afro-beat, dubstep or soul, she always has total control of the dance-floor.
As well as DJing at venues and festivals across the globe, Karen set up Karen P Productions Ltd in 2007 and helped build the groundbreaking Red Bull Music Academy Radio. Having grown into an award-winning radio production company working at the forefront of online broadcasting and branded audio, Karen recently re-branded it as Folded Wing and has done work for the BBC, Nike, Fabric and Red Bull UK amongst many more...

LOL this is crazy! And it only works if you have Internet Explorer (I think). You have to go to www . retwistic . com (no spaces) and then after it loads you need to hit the back button or else the funny video won't come up. If that doesn't work then hit the forward button instead.
Videocrash 3! with Hexstatic (live AV) vs The Nextmen (live AV) plus The Anomolies + DJ Cheeba (AV) + more tbc 8 - 3 Sat 6th June '09 £15 adv www.ticketweb.co.uk
For the third installment of the now legendary Videocrash, London's biggest and best dedicated Audio-Visual event, we have lined up a truly ground-breaking affair, with the undeniable kings Hexstatic and new challengers The Nextmen as well as some of the finest up-and coming talent in this, the coolest up-and-coming night-club experience. Having absolutley killed it at the previous 2 Videocrash nights Hexstatic was an obvious choice to invite back to Koko, and in looking for an act to match up to them The Nextmen were a clear option, with their live showcase and excellent turntable skills. To make it all that bit more special, and to fit in with the theme of the occasion, Hexstatic will be providing a visual accompaniment to The Nextmen's set! Awesome. Throw into the mix the fruits of our quest into the world of AV to find some of the hottest new talent in the field, and the result is an evening that will blow Koko's bass-bins and your minds with a kaleidescopic mix of sounds and sights.
