Some dame combining 40's blues & jazz with alternative music
I see the melody dancing inside of the eyes of the children trapped in men and women. They listen and watch as I continue picking my strings one by one; a personal dance between me and my guitar. Here I go, one, two, three, note after note, each one tearing inside the open wound. It is meant to burn, but the burning will subside and will begin to heal. No one speaks; it is a welcoming silence as I play on. During this moment, each word strips a raw piece of me to present to the listener. Soon enough, I am naked. The most personal thoughts slip through my lips, painting the room with the sound of pain and honesty. And my skin turned white again, and my nightmares found a friend, and my laughter has come to an end, my friend. No more room tonight, no more room tonight. Each word twisted, collided and exploded before the audience. No one is actually there though; not now, not in my mind state. It is just me and the music, promenading along the breeze from the open door. Im back in my room with the key in the lock; no one to disturb my most confidential thoughts. The music is taking me back to the day I wrote the song. It takes me back to the heartache and to the feeling I got when I sang it for the first time. As I whisper out the last note and my fingers act as the spider creating her web amongst my guitar, no one says a word. Then, the stillness is interrupted by the clapping of the beings collected before me on a sofa. This is what I live for; this is what motivates me to keep living through life. Im just another spider creating one web after another; the unexpected beauty.
Missoni Lanza's songs have a literary quality to them -- poetic stories that are set to music. So it was inevitable that her upcoming album would be the music equivalent of a minstrelsy. Her music is a reflection of deep soul searching, forgotten memories and vivid dreams that have hidden messages.
With most of her music written to her love for the guitar, Missoni has recently taken to writing songs on the piano. And that too, has affected her sound. It has given her music a different flavor that has broaden the vibe of her music.
Born in Oregon, raised in California, Missoni Lanza relocated to Louisiana in 2005. Since childhood, music was a primary factor in her life. So it was no surprise that her career choice would be singing and composing. Having had the opportunity to perform at her family's restaurant the past couple years, it is without a doubt that Missoni's unique musical journey is just in the beginning stages.
Missoni sees the world as none other of her peers do, as a multi-layered source of inspiration, as a terrible beauty, as a beautiful terror. Her creative writing shows depth of thought. Her guitar performances have proven moving, and she has a singing voice good for both light verse and for more thought-provoking ballads.

Hey Missoni! The Rock-afire Explosion Movie will be playing for two nights only, this Friday Sept 18th and Saturday, September 19th, both shows at 7:30 at the Robinson Film Center in downtown Shreveport on Texas Street. As a fantastic musician yourself, I'm sure that you can appreciate other musicians, even if they are robotic animals that whiled away their talents in a child-friendly pizza restaurant in the 1980s. Check out the trailer at www.rockafiremovie.com, you may also go to www.robinsonfilmcenter.org for further information. Subjects from the film will be in attendance for both nights as will Billy Bob The Bear. Now, how can you resist? You many also want to check out www.shreveport.blogspot.com, for information on this and other cool happenings around the city. Hope to see you at the Revel again this year! I think you're playing the same night as Pat Green and Dirtfoot? Take care!
