GeneralNoah's Ark Under Zoning 2009

The Lord spoke to Noah and said, "Noah, in six months I am going to make it rain until the whole world is covered with water and all the evil things are destroyed. But, I want to save a few good people and two of every living thing on the planet. I am ordering you to build an ark." And, in a flash of lightning, he delivered the specifications for the ark.

"OK," Noah said, trembling with fear and fumbling with the blueprints, "I'm your man."

"Six months and it starts to rain," thundered the Lord. "You better have my ark completed or learn to swim for a long, long time!"

Six months passed, the sky began to cloud up, and the rain began to fall in torrents. The Lord looked down and saw Noah sitting in his yard, weeping, and there was no ark.

"Noah!" shouted the Lord, "where is My ark?" A lightning bolt crashed into the ground right beside Noah.

"Lord, please forgive me!" begged Noah. "I did my best, but there were some big problems. First, I had to get a building permit for the ark's construction, but your plans did not meet their code. So, I had to hire an engineer to redo the plans, only to get into a long argument with him about whether to include a fire-sprinkler system."

"My neighbors objected, claiming that I was violating zoning ordinances by building the ark in my front yard, so I had to get a variance from the city planning board."

"Then, I had a big problem getting enough wood for the ark, because there was a ban on cutting trees to save the spotted owl. I tried to convince the environmentalists and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that I needed the wood to save the owls, but they wouldn't let me catch them, so no owls."

"Next, I started gathering up the animals but got sued by an animal rights group that objected to me taking along only two of each kind."

"Just when the suit got dismissed, the EPA notified me that I couldn't complete the ark without filing an environmental impact statement on your proposed flood. They didn't take kindly to the idea that they had no jurisdiction over the conduct of a Supreme Being."

"Then, the Corps of Engineers wanted a map of the proposed flood plan. I sent them a globe!"

"Right now, I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Equal Opportunities Commission over how many minorities I'm supposed to hire."

"The IRS has seized all my assets claiming that I am trying to leave the country, and I just got a notice from the state that I owe some kind of use tax. Really, I don't think I can finish the ark in less than five years."

With that, the sky cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow arched across the sky.

Noah looked up and smiled. "You mean you are not going to destroy the world?" he asked hopefully.

"No," said the Lord, "the government already has."

1.

Restarting the Effort

The official registration, of the next petition, cannot be done until after the November 2008 election. This means we have a good amount of time to work on other aspects of the movement. After the November election, we will be resubmitting the petition to the Missouri Secretary of State for circulation approval. We will have more than two years to actually collect signatures this time.

2.

June Teleconference Brief

A great deal of information was discussed at the teleconference, if you were there, thank you for attending. I've condensed this down to highlight some issues we are immediately working on; however, if you want a copy of the meeting agenda I can send you one (as of now we have no means of recording minutes an issue we are working on).

Web Site Revisions: We discussed in brief that the website was completely inadequate and would have to be revamped to meet the needs of the next effort. For example, the new website will be more informative, will be a communication source for the movement (forums, functional member pages, etc), and will provide circulators with everything they need to petition successfully.

Mo 18 To Drink Ballot Initiative General News Update

Petition for Redress: We have started a side project that will be conducted from now till the end of the year. A supplemental petition is being formed to request accountability from the state government in allowing the current drinking laws to violate Article 1 Section 2 of the Missouri constitution. This petition is a grievance petition and as of now there are no rules that deem how government should handle such petitions, however, the government is required by both the Missouri Constitution and the Federal Constitution to give a response. The petition will be available to sign some time after the website is revamped.

Structural Changes: The process has begun to change the structural make up of the organization. We are still discussing the best form to choose so this for now nothing has changed. We are leaning to a board of governors with a executive branch and probably several others. Allot of our plans here will be determined by how much money we can raise.

Fundraising: Right now we are researching what type of corporation(s) we can establish to generate funding. Ideally we want to establish tax-exempt non-for-profit group; however, the Government may require us to consider donations taxable income. In the coming months issues such as this one will be hammered out and a decision made. Our goal is raise at least 500,000 dollars by the end of the year and a million by the end of next year.

Activity Reports: In the future members will receive a bi-monthly report that entails the business conducted by the organization. This will allow members to see the progress that is being made and all of the goals that have been set. We hope this will encourage members to provide feedback or suggestions.

Allot more was discussed at the meeting but it would take up to much of y

Thank you guys for supporting freedom as a responsible adult. Cannabis and alcohol should be legal for any responsible adult to consume. Good luck! Decriminalization initiative in Joplin, MO for 2008.

Well, I know it hasn't been in my time. I am 30 and I had to get fake ID's to get in. Like I said, My mom was telling me the story. That's why I thought maybe in the 50's and 60's the laws were different. Thanks for the input though.

Wasn't the age to drink 18 at one time and then they raised it? I am not sure but my mom said that when she was in high school that she could go to Kansas and drink at 18.

It would seem if 18 is old enough to fight and die for your country, old enough to vote, old enough to be tried as an adult in court, it is old enough to have a drink. This will be a hard sell in some circles, but Missourians should have a right to vote on the issue.
