Over the last seven years, Missrepresent has become a household name in the UK drum 'n bass scene, playing the some of the nation's biggest club nights, including Valve (Brunel Rooms), Herbal (London), EQ Stratford (London), SE1 (London), Scala (London), Cornhall (Cirencester), and Raveology (Air Birmingham) to name a few. She has been featured on the MC Convention tape pack alongside Skibadee and Shabba D. Her presence has been featured in many publications, including EGG, Hardstep Sistaz, Dogsonacid, The BBC and various newspapers.
So what is it really that Missrepresent hasn't done?
After winning the liquidfunk.co.uk mix competition and later also qualifying as a finalist in the Movement and Driveby Competition at Bristol Academy in 2004, Missrepresent would start playing outside of her homeland. By this time, she had played over 280 bar and club events, headlining with some of the biggest names in drum 'n bass across Europe. She would also go on to headline many more venues abroad to include The Wagon Club (Poland), Club Cube (Lodz Poland), Porto Play DnB (Portugal) and many return visits to each corner of Germany.
2005 would prove to be a busy year for Missrep, focusing her efforts more on her station, AftershockRadio. This year would also be the mark of Missrepresent's first international residency at Bambu in Northern Germany. ASR's entire roster would later travel alongside her residency in various feature spots. She has been the cover story of EGG Magazine, a music information source. To close out 2005, Missrepresent would play on the Movement Tour as a resident at Brunels and would become the only female DJ to play on Dillinja and Lemon D's Valve Sound System so many times.
The following year would see a shift in attention to her night at Crackers Nightclub. With numbers brimming on a regular basis, Missrepresent has booked some of the biggest names in D&B, as well as many up and coming figures. 2006 would bring Missrep abroad throughout Europe, playing many spots in Tenerife, Portugal, and Spain. She would go on to secure more residencies across the UK. She has also been picked up by Urban Agency, where she joins their drum ‘n bass elite as the first female artist to be added to their roster.
Six years after Missrepresent's initiation into the UK's drum 'n bass scene, she continues to advance to headliner status. 2007 would present her sixth set on the massive Valve Sound System, as well as her first feature in the UK's premier drum 'n bass magazine, Knowledge. Her repertoire seems to be ever-expanding, as she is now taking bookings for breakbeat sets and has club nights held in Leamington, Gloucester, and Coventry alongside Devotion. AfterShockRadio events have expanded to other parts of Europe and the UK, including Germany, Mass Brixton London, Leeds, Cirencester and Cheltenham. Her crew would also support various second rooms at some of the country's biggest events - Valve Bedlam, Desire London, High Rollers Swindon, and with Peter F at Mass Brixton London and SE1. The year would take on an impressive end, bringing on more interviews with SoGlos, the county's leading music resource, a set on Radio Cardiff with DJ Kallista (now with quarterly requests for live mixes and interviews) and her first headlining international New Year’s Eve gig, where she played to a packed 2,000 capacity crowd alongside Bad Company and Moving Fusion in Bremen, Germany for Lifeline Promotions.
2008 is off to a great start, booking headlining DJs and MCs for two bi-monthly events in Gloucester and Leamington Spa. Missrepresent's website has received a facelift, moving towards a more professional, flash-based appearance (instead of the previous forum-based formula), and ASR looks to be ever-expanding as she promotes a large venue in Coventry. She is now supported by Fly53 Clothing (who also supports the likes of The Klaxons). Bookings include upcoming events for Bedlam @ Carling Academy, as well as bookings abroad to Tenerife for a second time and Rome (in a massive 7,000 capacity outdoor event). Among her most notable accomplishments, Missrepresent was nominated at Raveology’s Drum & Bass Awards for Best Female Artist and Breakthrough DJ, while AfterShockRadio was nominated for Best Internet Radio Station for the second year in a row. Professional support continues from the biggest labels in drum and bass including Ram, Grid, and Easy while Missrepresent joins industry giant, Ecler/Ortofon as part of their pro team. The team is headed by Sonny Wharton and is in association with Henleydesigns.co.uk. Missrepresent is also preparing for the world’s biggest drum ‘n bass festival, Innovation in the Sun, taking place this June in Barcelona, where she will play as a resident.
