It sounds like nothing you can really put in a box...it's like Jazz meets trip hop while out to lunch with hip hop, who introduced them both to gospel while entertaining the thought of R&B who had the blues that night so they all huddled around the fire and gave birth to a sound of their own.
Toni Hill has established herself in the music scene as a much sought after vocalist, emcee, poet and educator. She also adds actress & model to her list of many talents.
Understanding her role as educator and activist Toni is no stranger the struggle;She has been rocking' the stage with socially and politically conscious hip hop band hungry mob.
As one of the first ladies in northwest hip hop Miss Hill hopes that her collaboration with Oldominion’s Syndel As "Sirens echo" will help spread positive energy, messages of empowerment and encouragement to women of all races, color and creeds.
Miss Hill serves the community by working & Volunteering for: Feed The People- Atlanta, GA, Seattle Debate Foundation- Seattle WA, Guerrilla Theatre- Portland, OR, Sisterz of the underground- Sanfransico, CA and Power Of Hope, Seattle, Wa.
Toni Is very dedicated to the youth and youth movements. She has worked for Portland Public Schools with special needs children, taught preschool, been a camp counselor, and helped coach debate teams in underserved communities. Toni Is also very proud of her partnership with Evergreen State College and the Gateways program teaching incarcerated youth at Maple lane and Green Hill facilities. Oberlin University-Oberlin, OH., Portland State University-Portland, OR., Portland Community College-Portland, OR., Evergreen State College-Olympia, WA., and University of Puget sound-Tacoma,WA. are high on the list places she has been invited as guest speaker, panelist, or educator.
As a result of her flawless performances both as opener and headliner, she has acquired a consistent following from jazz cats to hip hop heads. Her music can be described as a perfect blend of retro jazz, & neo soul with a hip hop twist. Gil Scott-Heron, Black-eyed peas, Beenie man, Fishbone, E-40, Talib, Common, Ying Yang twins, The legendary Roots crew, Naughty by nature, lyfe Jennings and the Coup are among the diversified artist she has shared the stage with.Recording credits include features with Boom Bap Project, Soul Plasma, Liv and the Warfield Project, Cool nuts, T-Nutty, Spice One, Sleep of Oldominion, Pale soul, Grayskul, Bad ass, Omega watts, Kirk Green and many more.
Toni has served as Executive producer and co-producer for several projects including Sirens echo "Psalms of the Sirens", her self entitled LP and a Sirens Echo "follow the sounds" DVD. In addition to all of her endeavors, Toni maintained her job on Cable access television as host for "Urban vibe" for several years.
She seeks to solidify her spot in the music scene by keeping good working relationships with local Dj's, Colleges, Promoters, photographers, Musicians, Community organizations and radio personalities alike.
