Born & raised in the small Upstate town of Belton, SC, Wanda Johnson grew up with music in her home and church. First 'sitting in' with local bands in the early 1990s, she quickly won a reputation for a winning personality, superb voice, and powerful ability to connect with an audience. Wanda joined forces with Carolina bluesman Shrimp City Slim in 1999 for their first collaboration, a tour of France, and together have gone on to release three acclaimed CDs: "Call Me Miss Wanda" (2003), "Natural Resource" (2006), and "Hold What You Got" (2008).
Wanda & SCS have performed at the Chicago Blues Festival, Pocono Blues Festival, Lowcountry Blues Bash, and other notable events, and have toured Italy, Macau (China), Poland, the Czech Republic, and France several more times. 2010 will find Wanda Johnson back in Europe (schedule t.b.a.).
