About me: AMONGST the ever burgeoning pool of young entertainment and cultural talent in the headquarters of soca, comes Umi Marcano of Synergy TV fame. Tall, handsome and extremely talented, this singer at the age of 19 possesses all the attributes to shoot for the stars, time and time again has proven that he belongs on stage to be counted as a celebrity in the local world of soca music.
With a love for music I got so involved in soca that I lost myself to the world. “Singing is my strength,” At first Marcano did not recognise his own talent, but that it was his friends and relatives who pointed it out to him. It was purely by chance that he entered the Synergy TV competition, and there was no turning back.
Marcano was determined to win and to prove his point. And win he did. He then set his sights on producing a music video for his hit song “Move That Body” – an initiative which he recently completed.
Having won the Synergy TV entertainment award in February, Marcano is now preparing for Carnival 2008 and has already composed several new soca tunes which will be compiled in a new CD.
