Mittens on Strings started in the summer of 2001 in Louisville, KY and largely remained a summer band for several years while its members colleged in separate cities. We kept writing songs though, and by late 2005 we had self-released 3 ep's in addition to a 7", Pushing Buttons" released by Pickled Egg and a full length, Look Up the Sky!! on Emperor Jones records.
A good reception for Look up the Sky! by people and publications led Alex to quit biochemistry school in Austin and move to Chicago to make Mittens on Strings a full-time band.
The result is that we have just finished our latest album, "Let's go to Baba's". It is more refined and has more bite than our last album. Some of the new songs are up for preview. Our new video for "The Flaming Pig", a stopmotion modern tragedy, can be found below. More videos will follow as they are finished. Our old label Emperor Jones has gone back on Hiatus (Our last release brought them out of a previous indefinite vacation), so we have not settled on a label yet. If you are interested, contact us.
