A brief history on Mitus: I started graffin when I was like 10 growing up on Sydney just scribbling on shit and got into hip hop thru a mates brother he had 2pac n nwa cds and I thought they where cool. It wasn’t until I moved to Newcastle when I was 12 or so I started really getting into it in high school me and a few mates started sketchin and the getting paint doin our first pieces n such at about 15 or 16 I started meeting older writers who showed us the ropes in between I started written rhymes at the age of 14 sort of like a diary type shit started with a waccent I never even knew aussies rapped I thought I was the cleverest cunt out when I first was introduced to hilltop hoods thru a mate I thought it was fuckin ridiculous and ever since I been smashing up all the aussie shit I can from the age of 17 I started sneaking in to gigs and haven’t missed many since when I turned 18. Started recording and making beats in 07. By late 2007 I put out my mix tape pressed up only 200 copies and did and independent store hustle to independent hip-hop stores, it was in my own words rushed and not properly mixed but with that being said was extremely well received and every one of those copies was sold. I repressed a further 50 special edition copies with 2 bonus tracks in 2008 and got rid of those within in a couple of weeks. I have also featured on a couple of independent releases from Saul good and Titanic, Trebl and Later this year will be featuring on the posthumous record from Doose called forked tongue. I have done a handful of shows with more planned for later in 2009, I have supported some of NSW prominent and more established artists including Thundamentals (obese records), Mind over matter (formerly of Nurcha records), Tycotic, Coptic soldier (formerly of Nurcha records, sponsored by adidas), Phatchance (Formerly of Nurcha records with the Natural causes crew) and many more. I like to describe my shows as more of an experience then just someone who does there songs, I like every show to be different and unique in some way whether it be my dj playing “give me a home amongst the gum tree’s” mid set and getting the crowd to sing along or dropping the beat all together and getting oxey on the acoustic guitar. As of right now I am focusing prominently on my crew’s first release putting my debut LP back for a minute. We are 75% finished with some fine collaborations with some of Australia’s finest. The crew consists of Mitus (myself) and Oxey with DJ KIDREAM (3rd in nsw dmcs) for live shows. Oxey with his previous crew has supported countless crews and acts from all over Australia and is almost a guarantee to host the majority of shows that come through Sydney. As far as distribution or a label we are pressing up 1000 copies of our release when it is ready to be distributed in JB hifi stores as well as independent hip-hop stores.
