Really dig college sports. Not into pro sports at all. Probably has to do with the fact I live in a non-pro city (no pro sports).

"Huh? My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi." - Navin R. Johnson from "The Jerk"
Well, I was actually born/raised in Mississippi. Gulfport specifically. While my roots actually trace back to the New England region (Gardner, MA), I had the opportunity to be raised in the conservative/close-minded region known as the Deep South. Despite the stifling mindsets, it was a great place to grow up in the late 70s/80s while being an Air Force brat and everything that entails.
I received an adequate education from public schools. Attended college @ University of Southern Mississippi before transferring and graduating from Mississippi State University. While @ USM, I marched in the drum line playing quads/multiples. First time to play multiples as my focus was always snare. Ended up serving as Drum Captain while @ MSU, all while playing in symphonic, jazz and pep/basketball bands. Teaching HS drumlines on the side with the occasional fill-in pro symphonic gig to make some extra cash. Also, took part in the cooperative education (CO-OP) program interning @ NASA (John C. Stennis Space Center) while @ MSU.
1991, gave up drums for newfound career (Computer Programmer @ FedEx, Memphis, TN). Started racing bicycles (road and mtb) and took a total break musically as I had been playing for 14 years nonstop. It was pretty much my 'job' in college via music scholarships/grants/awards/etc.
Moved around a bit (San Fran, North Carolina, etc), started a family (wonderful wife and two kids) and then decided to move to Louisville, KY (2001) for job/education reasons.
2003: Started drumming again. Have played with various groups, ranging from hard rock to pop to prog to jazz to blues.
Namaste.
