About me:

"Huh? My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi." - Navin R. Johnson from "The Jerk"

Well, I was actually born/raised in Mississippi. Gulfport specifically. While my roots actually trace back to the New England region (Gardner, MA), I had the opportunity to be raised in the conservative/close-minded region known as the Deep South. Despite the stifling mindsets, it was a great place to grow up in the late 70s/80s while being an Air Force brat and everything that entails.

I received an adequate education from public schools. Attended college @ University of Southern Mississippi before transferring and graduating from Mississippi State University. While @ USM, I marched in the drum line playing quads/multiples. First time to play multiples as my focus was always snare. Ended up serving as Drum Captain while @ MSU, all while playing in symphonic, jazz and pep/basketball bands. Teaching HS drumlines on the side with the occasional fill-in pro symphonic gig to make some extra cash. Also, took part in the cooperative education (CO-OP) program interning @ NASA (John C. Stennis Space Center) while @ MSU.

1991, gave up drums for newfound career (Computer Programmer @ FedEx, Memphis, TN). Started racing bicycles (road and mtb) and took a total break musically as I had been playing for 14 years nonstop. It was pretty much my 'job' in college via music scholarships/grants/awards/etc.

Moved around a bit (San Fran, North Carolina, etc), started a family (wonderful wife and two kids) and then decided to move to Louisville, KY (2001) for job/education reasons.

2003: Started drumming again. Have played with various groups, ranging from hard rock to pop to prog to jazz to blues.

Namaste.

.. "In every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." - The Great Law of the Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy
Blue Devils 2003: Practice session, listen to the bass drums (can't see them), look at the stick heights, this was one of the great DCI lines of all time.
Who I'd like to meet:
(Living and dead...): Dekanawidah, Dr. Charles Alexander Eastman, Johnny Depp, Woody Harrelson, Bill Clinton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ginger Baker, Stewart Copeland, Jojo Mayer, Neil Peart, Angelina Jolie, Albert Einstein, Bill Maher and the late/great Bill Hicks...more to come as I have time.

Tony Royster Jr. and Thomas Pridgen getting crazy on a dual/battle. Who do you think won?
