Raised by a religious family in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida, Mixi made up her mind to follow a boyfriend to Los Angeles, California. Once in Los Angeles, Mixi was left broken-hearted by her boyfriend and found herself homeless, struggling to survive. She stayed on the West Coast and fronted the band Dragstrip Kitty later filling in as guitar backing vocals and keys on a U.S. tour with a Anti Product. An advertisement on the Internet brought her to Fuse TV's brand new 2008 reality television series Redemption Song.
Hoping her smooth, jazzy voice might be her ticket to stardom, Mixi never gave up on her dreams of making it in the music industry. Now that she has scored a recording contract with Geffen Records, the hard work, pressure and daily demands will only intensify. But, Mixi believes that she is as ready as she will ever be to record her debut album, and, true to her risk-taking nature, is going for something wildly out there."
