MIXTAPE RIOT! began as a PARTY. Now we're an extended crew (The Beatards / Soul Imperial / VIA / The Bloom Effect / Fanatic...) a website, and we still throw crazy parties on the regular.
The concept for MIXTAPE RIOT! came from many nights of going out and always hearing the same shit no matter where you go. Seems like most people nowadays are only satisfied when they can sing along to a familiar tune. And if it's not a pop party, then it's a super-specific niche/theme night where all the songs fit into a clean category. Or the DJ's are music snobs and play only songs that no one else knows except for the other dudes with beards and thick glasses. JUST SAY NO TO BOUNDARIES. At our party, on our website, in our music, you can expect to hear old school, new school, top 40 and utterly obscure all in the mix together.
The website is an extension of that. Members of the crew post MP3's in pretty much any style you have heard of, and some styles you probably haven't heard before. We share original tracks and remixes, music from friends, and other songs that we love. We put up mixes from DJ's we like and we also let you know about our events. IF YOU LIKE WHAT WE'RE DOING HOLLER.
