Quickly approaching our one year anniversary, Mixtape SoundLab has rapidly become the premiere musicians' studio in Lawrence, providing a creative "safe-haven" for any and all waves of musical enterprises. Our one goal in this "City of Arts" is to fully comprehend the individuals' needs and sounds as they bask in our one-of-a-kind downtown Lawrence atmosphere.
Located in the heart of downtown Lawrence, and previously inhabited by Mercy Studios, each room throughout this second story gem has it's own personality, with the lounge area's sounds of a salt water fish tank, suspended flat screen and leather sofa seating. Within the dark control room is where we provide the ultimate experience in professional recording. Studio manager Ben Jackson understands that while the "business first" approach is essential, the SoundLab deeply cares about their clients and takes on each project as a dedicated honest commitment to your satisfaction. Jackson, originally from the Dallas area, engineered full-time for Maximedia Recording Studios, one of the largest recording facilities in the Southwest.
As Jerett Fulton, owner, has stated, "From our clients' gear, to their appetite for good local food, to their chord changes and their lyrics, we embrace full-on any and every type of project. We feel blessed to have so many talented, well-established musicians treat the Lab as their home." And it's pretty easy to; the front office overlooks New Hampshire St, just a few steps from The Bottleneck, across the street from Borders Books & Music and footsteps away from any food to fit your palette.

In a 2005 article, The New York Times called Lawrence "the most vital music scene between Chicago and Denver." Not content with creating sounds strictly within the Lab's walls, the Mixtape crew has ventured their recording abilities further into one of Lawrence's live music staples. It's only natural that THE GRANADA THEATER, known for it's incredible stage, sound and devotion to Lawrence music, has chosen MSL to add on-site recording and duplication to their already revered venue for musicians. Poor your heart out on stage and leave the rest to us. Why record your show? You or your band are already set up for the show, and MSL is already wired in to catch your performance. Also, by being permanently installed at the front of house booth, you can rest easy knowing we are configured to get the very best sound possible for your event.
