M Jack Bee is set to deliver his upcoming single 'Sound of Love' released nationally on October 14th. To celebrate, the charismatic soloist from Byron Bay, is heading out for a run of east coast shows to release the track, with his first band in tow. 'Sound of Love' follows his 2010 release 'In Loops' which received praise from Rhythm Magazine ('world class') and TIME OFF proclaimed the live show 'a revelation'. Recorded in a single day in Sydney, this release was influenced by the expertise of producer Dave Symes (MD for Sarah Blasko, Sleepy Jackson). As a live studio affair, the record showcases dynamic, full-band arrangements for the first time in M Jack Bee's career: "The sounds that I was hearing in my head, and the music that was moving me had other people playing in it… It seemed otherworldly, and I wanted to explore that." After undertaking an extended stint of writing since his last EP, M Jack Bee has delved into an observational perspective on 'Sound of Love'. The record captures the lyrically longing, heartbreakingly honest poetry of yesteryear, with a keen touch of satire: "I was observing what made me turn to lyrics of heartbreak. It seems it's the stories of love and lost love that captivate us most. We love to see people's hearts break and be tested and I think it's hard to unsubscribe ourselves from that culture." With a live performance that has received widespread adoration throughout the country, M Jack Bee will be accompanying his single release with a string of headline shows across the east coast this November. Additionally, he will be touring throughout October and November as opening support on Pete Murray's upcoming 18-date Australian tour alongside Busby Marou.

After flirting with depression in 2011, 2012 is already looking brighter… and more productive. Here's the first clip from the SINATRA Highway tour, with scenes from various performances throughout the Australian outback sewn together. Please share everywhere if you like it :)

IN LOOPS

Available now Vitamin | iTunes

M. Jack Bee went to a house in the hills, filled it with microphones and guitar amplifiers, played his set, and went home with his new record "In Loops".

Bee's story began in the same hills, where he had left a life of rock and roll in Melbourne, to exorcise his folk demons on his debut recording "I Don't Want To Fight You" (Vitamin 2009). Recorded in his shed, the EP was soft and sweet, funny and dark, and exactly the anti-thesis that he needed to escape the rabbit hole of his increasingly debauched former life.

Back onstage, his past came to the fore, his live show moving from the sweet folk of the record, to an ever increasing climactic wall of sound to punctuate his deeply felt lyrics. To aid this need of creating sonic layers he discovered the loop pedals, which would rise from being, a mere sideline effect, to affecting the way he wrote and structured songs. Something in a melody played live, captured, and then repeated through the pedals was enchanting and enabled a whole new range of emotion to be explored in the rhythmic sense.

After spending the early part of  2010 writing and demo-ing in studios around the country, nothing sunk in, so he called friend and producer Christian Pyle for advice. "Come up Wednesday" was all he said, and what was going to be a chat between friends turned into laying microphones and guitar amps around Pyle's state of the retro art studio, and recording the EP in one hit live. Pyle filmed proceedings as he twisted dials with the other hand, capturing each take filmically and sonically.

"In Loops" is raw, honest, intimate and huge sounding, just like an M. Jack Bee show.
