"Persisting in or remaining constant to a purpose, idea or task in spite of obstacles."
That is the definition of both Perseverance and MJ Law. This 18 year old made her television debut in the 2005 Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in the opening song and dance number with Camp Broadway.
In May of 2008, she met up with Keith Brown. A college graduate who’s goal is to also progress in the musical industry. She gave him the lyrics to “Stick It In Your Ear”. MJ wanted to see what he could come up with for music. Within 3 days, Keith sent a sample. From then on, they have worked together. On May 31, 2008, MJ released her first original song, “Stick It In Your Ear” . Her goal in her songs is to have people relate to the lyrics. Her lyrics are written to deliver a very precise message if people look deep into them. She followed up with the emotional ballad of “kthnxbye” . Her musical style is a blend of Avril Lavigne, The Veronicas, Paramore, and The Pierces. She strives to make every song of hers unique. She enjoys making people guess what will be next.
MJ is a trained dancer as well. For 7 years, she has studied and competed in ballet, pointe, partnering, hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, musical theatre and her favorite contemporary. In recent years, she has been acknowledged with special awards such as: “Dare to be Different”, “All Out Performance”, and “Future Tony award “. Although, she no longer competes, she choreographs for herself now. Her choreography pushes her strengths to their fullest potential.
In April, MJ auditioned for a role in the independent horror movie, “Mental Scars”. The producers decided that although she was too young for the role she auditioned for, they would like to give her a different principal role. The movie will be released in theatres. More details will be provided as they are posted.
With her perseverance and persistance, MJ will surely make her own success.
